SPEAKER and MODERATOR GUIDELINES
Presentations



The Moderator is asked to manage and assist with the workshops so that attendees get a valuable
learning experience and an interactive exchange from the sessions. Time is allotted for each presenter
to ensure that speakers have adequate time to make their full presentation.
The Speakers are asked to bring to the discussion knowledge of the subject and be able to articulate
information in a succinct manner. Speakers may be called upon at any time by the Moderator to
present their views or follow up to questions from the audience.
Please note the time allotted for presentations are either one and a-half or 2 hour sessions. Please
remember to allow 15 minutes to include introductions by your moderator and any announcements, as
well as allowing for a 15 – 20 minute question and answer session.
Common Areas of Concern




If multiple presenters are in a workshop, to prevent content overlap, contact the other presenter(s) to
discuss the area you are to cover. Presenters who do not cover the agreed subject area also tend to
overlap onto other speaker’s area of focus.
Presentations should match the descriptions noted on the Speaker Fact Sheet and in the program
book.
Previous evaluation forms show that delegates appreciate presentations that include practical
examples, “how-to” tips, where things went wrong or were improved; learning from mistakes.
Provide helpful information through handouts, websites, bibliographies and reference materials.
Documentation



Ideal documentation is a one-paragraph bio and a one-page presentation summary or detailed outline
in Microsoft Word format sent by e-mail to: “Coordinators Email”
If you are preparing a PowerPoint presentation, be mindful of the time you have for your presentation.
A good guide for a 15-minute presentation is no more than 10-15 slides.
.Try to avoid having more than five points on a single slide. Use a large font that can be easily read
from the back of the conference room.
Other



Please arrive at least an hour before you are scheduled to speak and come to the AMAC Registration
Desk to obtain your conference credentials.
Please remember to bring business cards or brochures regarding your profession/entity to exchange
with other attendees for networking purposes.
Professional dress attire.
