Multiple Meaning-dodge-esl
Reading-fluency, comprehension and genre.
Genre is Expository-Tell it Like it Was(Pg. 310-311) introduces the weekly vocabulary terms. Students practice fluency by
completing a 1 minute timed reading check (students will retest with same passage to check for rate increase on Thursday).
Analyze test structure for informational/expository.
Language Arts-Mountain Language (# 8) 1-5
nouns-common/proper, singular/plural
contractions & abbreviations
Figurative Language-idioms, similes, metaphors, adages, proverbs
Phonics-word containing vowel teams
Students will view video and complete interactive activities as they investigate vowel teams.
Grammar-Verbs & Helping Verbs
Students will complete interactive activity to review verbs and helping verbs used in writing.

Leveled Readers-group will read chapter 1-Tales of the Trickster Rabbit-The Hare and the Lion

phonics (blends & sounds), synonyms & antonyms, word associations & creating sentences (compound subjects and compound
predicates).
Writing-Voice
Students will watch video (Empowering Writers) about how authors add details to show voice (personality) to their own
writing. Students will examine samples and identify examples of author's voice.

Students will use Star Reading to progress monitor.
