COURSE AIMS
The course plans to broaden and consolidate the student’s basic German language skills through a reflection on the key concepts of German linguistics and on the structures and the analysis methods of contemporary German. In Semester Two we will study primarily the linguistic, textual and pragmatic traits of German specialised communication.
COURSE CONTENT
Part One (Semester One): one-year and second-year students of Language Expert for Business (ELI) and Language Expert for International Relations (RI):

Part Two (Semester Two): one-year and third-year students of Language Expert for
Business (ELI) and Language Expert for International Relations (RI) :
DEUTSCH ALS FACHSPRACHE a) Standard language and specialised languages b) Linguistic and pragmatic aspects c) Specialised lexicography: tools and methods d) Text typologies and analysis of comparable texts (selection) e) Translation and terminology issues.

Faculty notice board and the lecturer’s webpage.
For all students:
The course materials downloadable from the lecturer’s webpage or found on the
Blackboard version of the course.
The lecturer will communicate the Home Reading List (applicable solely to ELI and
ELRI students) at the start of classes and post it on the Faculty notice board.
TEACHING METHOD
Lectures. The course will invite guest experts to further develop specific themes of the syllabus.
ASSESSMENT METHOD
Oral exam in German.
Non-attending students who plan to take the exam in a specific exam session are invited to contact the lecturer well in advance (at least two months before the scheduled exam session) to clarify any doubts or to agree opportune integrations or changes to the required programme.
