Endocrine System Project – Children’s Book Objectives: Define the terms and principles applicable to all endocrine glands, including an explanation of the modes of action of hormones on cells, and transport of hormones in the system. List the major endocrine organs, their locations, their products, their targets, and the actions of the hormones produced. Using the information from your book and the Internet, write a children’s story meeting the above objectives. Grade yourself using the rubric on the back page prior to submitting your project to Mrs. Reid More specific explanation of the objectives: Include and define the terms hormone, gland, endocrinology, receptors, transport proteins Include at least five of the specific glands as examples. Explain how hormones interact with receptors. Explain how hormones are transported through the body. For the five specific glands chosen, include what hormones they produce, what part of the body this targets, and what the effect is. Your story must contain images that complement the information. It is expected that you will have at least three quality images in your story. Images should be colored. This children’s story can be as simple as a book for preschoolers or as complicated as something for a middle school student. Creativity is important in this project. Extra Credit – earn an extra 5 points if you make your book a pop-up, or at least 5 doors that reveal something underneath, or has 5 interactive pieces (sliding tabs, pockets with something inside, etc.) Grading Rubric. Before turning in your work, grade yourself to see how you did. If you can’t give yourself a 5 on any category – go back and make changes to your project.
