Westergard was among nearly 200 nominees that was reduced to 50 names. A selection committee of past honorees and editors reviewed applications and rated women in five categories: professional achievements, leadership, mentorship to other women, community service and community leadership. The 50 women with the highest scores were selected as 2016 honorees. “I am honored to be recognized among a group of women who are shaping the future of Idaho,” said Westergard. Westergard joined the Boise CVB—an organization responsible for enhancing the city’s economy through tourism—in January 2015. During her tenure, Westergard has led the charge to redevelop the BCVB website, created a monthly newsletter, managed a merger with the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and traveled across the country to recruit media to visit the City of Trees. “Carrie has navigated her first year as executive director with grace and vigor,” said Bill Connors, President and CEO of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce. “She has achieved much success for both the CVB and the city of Boise in a short period of time. This nomination is well deserved.” In addition to her role with the Boise CVB, Westergard is an active volunteer in the Boise community. She has strong ties to Junior Achievement of Idaho, Girls on the Run, among other organizations. The nominees will be honored – and a finalist named – at the Idaho Business Review’s awards dinner and gala on Feb. 25. ### About Boise Convention and Visitors Bureau: The Boise Convention and Visitors Bureau is a non-profit organization, founded in 1982, to enhance the City of Boise’s economy through the marketing, promotion and selling of the city and region as a site for conventions, corporate meetings, trade shows, pleasure travel, cultural, sport, and special events.
