Job Description – Compliance and Quality Executive
Purpose
This is an updated role and the post-holder will be providing support and assistance to the
Director of Quality & Qualifications (DQQ) and Responsible Officer in the maintenance and
monitoring of the compliance and quality systems in line with relevant regulatory codes and
conditions (e.g. Maintenance of adverse effect and complaints logs, review and amend of
policies and procedures, ensuring evidence is generated and collated against relevant
conditions). The Compliance and Quality Executive (CQE) will be able to demonstrate
analytical and investigatory experience and will be responsible for the compilation of evidence
required, on behalf of the DQQ/RO, by the relevant regulatory body.
Key areas of work
The Compliance and Quality Executive will be responsible for issues of quality and regulatory
compliance, and their implementation, throughout the departments of ABP. Reporting to the
Responsible Officer he/she will pro-actively act in a co-ordinating/guidance capacity to ABP
managers.
The Compliance and Quality Executive will maintain awareness of good practise in relation to
Quality Assurance as it applies to the delivery of ABP operated qualifications. To ensure
awareness of all relevant legislation, policies and procedures as related to the operation and
integrity of qualifications operated by ABP and through the partnership with ABE.
1. Compliance
 Providing support to the Responsible Officer/Director of Quality & Qualifications to
ensure arrangements for meeting regulatory obligations are in accordance with the
conditions issued by the relevant regulator, Ofqual
 Identifying/Anticipating and/or managing all issues otherwise likely to cause an
adverse effect
 Supporting ABE in the maintenance and ‘policing’ of all requirements of the
agreement between ABP and ABE
 Investigation of all irregularities which are normally those issues threatening the
integrity of delivery, assessment and awarding systems for qualifications including
adverse effects, and cases of malpractice and maladministration.
 Ensure timely notification and reporting to the Responsible Officer
 To support and advise ABP managers in all issues relating to compliance

 Operation and maintenance of ABPs annual self-evaluation reporting system
 Managing those internal audits as may be agreed with the Responsible Officer and
Chief Executive
 Work with managers in reviewing and updating policies and procedures ensuring
regulatory compliance and quality are fully embedded
 Maintain and analyse issues arising from ABPs risk management system
 Maintain and analyse issues arising from a log of comments and complaints
 Ensure the accuracy and consistency of all Information relating to ABP /ABE
qualifications and as also described on the website

3. Recognition
 Supporting as appropriate, the collation and maintenance of evidence needed to
effectively underpin a successful application for recognised status
 Maintaining up to date evidence sources which demonstrate performance to the
regulator’s General Conditions of Recognition and any other standards/criteria that
may apply from time to time
 Ensure timely reports to the Responsible Officer on relevant issues and especially
those which need to be communicated to the regulator
 Address in timely fashion all regulator concerns/ requirements which may be made of
ABP , given recognition, and which may include responses to regulator consultation
exercises
 Prepare draft compliance statements for the annual returns of the Responsible
Officer to Ofqual
 Attend external training days and workshops in relation to regulatory compliance,
provided by the regulators, FAB or any other party, as agreed by the Director of
Quality & Qualifications.
4. Liaison and Communication
 Provide support and secretariat activities for the three governance committees within
ABP
 Positive and supportive wherever appropriate, communication with all managers and
staff of ABP
 Working with the Responsible Officer, communicate, liaise and enhance relationships
with stakeholders including the regulator
 Engage and brief investigation teams when required and ensure accurate,
meaningful reports prepared within previously agreed timescales
 Prepare and disseminate regular updates on compliance matters, issues for all staff
and associates
 Maintain a close working relationship with the Quality Assurance manager and team
 Undertake other tasks as reasonably requested by the Responsible Officer/Director
of Quality & Qualifications
Background Information
ABP is a small but growing awarding organisation linked to ABE, a regulated awarding
organisation and membership body. ABP has recently developed a range of Business and
Computing qualifications (low level, high level, short, long, etc.). Additional qualifications are
also being developed. Whilst ABP is not currently a ‘recognised’ awarding organisation, some
higher level (e.g. levels 4-7) qualifications have been submitted to the Regulatory Authorities
for accreditation via a strategic alliance with ABE which has recently been endorsed by Ofqual.
Longer term, ABP intends to become an Ofqual-recognised awarding organisation.
The CQE will be supported by the DQQ/RO who reports to the CEO.

The role is office based in newly refurbished, modern, purpose built offices in Wimbledon Park
(SW19), approximately 1 minute walk from Wimbledon Park tube station. Working from home
occasionally will be considered.
 Discretionary annual bonus (December)
 Pension – after 6 months service, ABP will contribute 5% of monthly salary to a company
pension scheme
 Private healthcare – after 6 months service
 Season ticket loan if required
 Free eye tests if required
 37.5 hours (flexi-time) per week (core hours 10am to 4pm)
 20 days annual leave (not including public holidays), rising to 22 days after 3 years and
25 days after 5 years. ABP holiday year commences from 1st January and annual leave
allowance is calculated based on starting date.
