TECC Membership

Dear Former and Future Teacher Education Coordinating Committee and Administrators;

As some of you know, we went through a rather lengthy process last year to change the University committee TECC membership and functions. Our changes were approved by faculty senate late spring and we can now reconfigure the committee. These changes will be critical as we try to better inform everyone involved in teacher education about changes and to make strong decisions that serve the campus and the state’s new teachers and educators coming from UI.

This email is being used to thank you for past service and to determine future membership. My guess is that some of you will continue on this committee and some of you may be moving on. Thus, my first task is to sincerely thank all of you who have served in the past. I’m copying here your deans and your department chairs, so that everyone knows of your service and the TECC’s appreciation of your efforts.

The approved committee structure is below. For many but not all of the positions, there is a logical choice as one person in the department may take lead over the teacher education portion of the program. For other positions, I will need to rely on department chairs/deans for nominations to complete our committee membership. While the committee is a recognized University committee, the dean of Education is given the responsibility to determine membership and set agendas.

Whatever the official, voting membership, please know that we welcome visitors and that anyone who would like to ensure that he or she is keeping up with changes, that you are welcome to our meetings.
