General Show Rules 1. The steer and heifer shows are open to exhibitors of any age. 2. Entry fees: Cattle -$30.00/hd. All entry fees are non-refundable. 3. Entries must be postmarked by February 7, 2015. Entries postmarked after February 7th will be assessed an additional $20/head late charge. (Total $50 per head) 4. Check-in will begin at 8 am on Saturday, February 28th, 2015 and will conclude at 10 am. Show will begin at 11 am. 5. Cattle exhibitors should bring a generator as power is limited. Generators must be operated outside of the barn so bring long cords in case that you are stalled in the center of the barn. 6. Class premiums will try to be paid the day of the show (if possible). Exhibitors will be required to have their stalls inspected for removal of bedding and debris prior to receiving their premiums. 7. No uniform is required, however exhibitors shall dress neat and clean while showing. The Show management reserves the right to change the show schedule and classes to improve the show. 8. The WKU Block and Bridle and Western Kentucky University, and those associated with the show will assume no responsibility for death or injury to livestock or persons during the show. The above will also not be responsible or liable for damage of property or stolen items. 9. Exhibitors must supply their own bedding (straw or shavings) and will be responsible for keeping it clean. Exhibitors will be responsible for removing all bedding from their stalls and placing them in the dump truck provided by WKU. 10.Western Kentucky policy prohibits the use of alcohol at student functions. Those found with alcohol will be asked to leave. 11.All animals are released after their respective classes and after their stalls have been cleaned. SHOWMANSHIP Rules: 1. Showmanship will consist of Junior (ages 12 and under), Intermediate (ages 13 -15) and Senior (ages 16 and older). Age as of January 1, 2014. 2. Show order for all showmanship will be Junior followed by Intermediate followed by Senior. 3. Fitting is optional for all cattle showmanship. 4. Exhibitor must show their own animal. No exceptions! HEIFER SHOW Division 1 – Breeding Heifers Class 1. Purebred Heifers 2. Commercial Heifers Rules: 1. Exhibitors must check-in original registration papers. 2. Heifers may only show in one breed show even if they are registered with more than one breed association. 3. Cow-Calf class in all breeds. Cows of any age are eligible. STEER SHOW Division 2 – Prospect and Progress Market Steers Class 1. All breeds will show together. 2. Champion and reserve champion steers will compete against champion and reserve champion market heifers for champion and reserve champion market beef animal. 3. Classes to be determined after weigh in. MARKET HEIFER SHOW Division 3 -Prospect and Progress Market Heifers Rules: 1. All breeds will show together. 2. Champion and reserve champion steers will compete against champion and reserve champion market heifers for champion and reserve champion market beef animal. 3. Classes to be determined after weigh in.
