Name: ___________________________ Per:_____ Mini-Experiments Packet Revisited Directions: Re-read experiments 2 and 3 from the miniexperiments packet. Create mini-posters for each on the provided pages. Data for each experiment is provided. You need to create a data table and a graph for each one and based on the data draw a conclusion. Use my miniposter for experiment 1 as a guide for how to do your own. Data for Experiment 1: The samples treated with plain air had the following amounts of algae growing in each beaker; .89 grams, .75 grams, .62 grams, .88 grams, 1.02 grams, .78 grams, .94 grams, 1.33 grams, .76 grams, 1.01 grams. The samples treated with oxygen had the following amounts of algae growing in each beaker: 2.01 grams, .85 grams, .72 grams, 1.04 grams, 1.44 grams, .86 grams, .89 grams, 1.38 grams. Data for Experiment 2: Stretching Strength The nylon cord was stretched 1.2 cm. The diameter was 2.1 cm smaller. The cotton cord broke and the two pieces measured the same length as before and the diameter was the same. The rubber cord stretched by 11.7 cm and the diameter shrank by 1.3 cm. The polyester cord stretched by .5 cm and the diameter was .25 cm smaller. Data for Experiment 3: Freezing Hot Water The water in the 100 degree Celsius beaker showed ice crystals forming after 2minutes and 12 seconds. The water in the 80 degree Celsius beaker showed ice crystals forming after 2 minutes and 52 seconds. The water in the 60 degree Celsius beaker showed ice crystals forming after 3 minutes and 66 seconds. The water in the 40 degree Celsius beaker showed ice crystals forming after 2 minutes and 10 seconds. The water in the 20 degree Celsius beaker showed ice crystals forming after 2 minutes and 31 seconds. Comparison of Algal Growth in Oxygenated Water and Regular Water Question: Does changing the amount of oxygen dissolved in pond water change the amount of algae that will grow in it? Hypothesis: Oxygen enriched pond water will grow more algae than pond water that is not oxygen enriched. Rationale: Oxygen is a necessary life-giving resource which will help the algae grow faster and bigger.
