BSPAR (British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology) Parent/Carer
Representatives
We wish to invite parents, carers and patients who have direct experience of paediatric
rheumatological inflammatory conditions such as JIA or SLE to apply to become members of
a new initiative, the BSPAR National Parent Forum, which will facilitate and ensure that the
valuable voice of patients and their families helps steer future developments in this field.
The intention is to initially recruit 8 parents/carers from throughout the UK who will
represent the wider parent and patient community by seeking and collecting other family
views, to share with and inform professionals within The British Society of Paediatric and
Adolescent Rheumatology (BSPAR) and third sector organizations. Appointments will be for
a term of 3 years initially and will involve biannual parent group meetings, teleconferences
and joining executive and clinical affairs meetings, plus other contribution to projects. This is
a voluntary position but travel and other reasonable out of pocket expenses will be
reimbursed.
Further information and an application form are available from Katie Fitzgerald (see below)
or via your regional centre.
Please send applications to Katie Fitzgerald at British Society for Rheumatology, Bride
House, 18-20 Bride Lane, London, EC4Y 8EE or via [email protected] (tel:
020 7842 0900, fax 020 7842 0914). Interviews will be held by teleconference during
September.
