Note from the Grand Knight

Brothers All,

I enter this fraternal year with renewed vigor and enthusiasm hoping to build on last year’s foundation.

We have several new members bringing in a climate of excitement. I believe we can reach new heights in our commitment to helping the community.

The next several months will present us with opportunities to help our community ranging from

Pancake Breakfasts to Posole and from cutting down trees to landscaping. We will also work on fundraising so we may continue to help our community all while we forge ahead as active participants in our lay ministries.

I am eager for us to move forward as a team and show the community what motivated Knights of Columbus can and will accomplish! Let’s make ourselves proud!

“In service to one, in service to all!”

Vivat Jesu!

Rosaries

Did you know that before the Saturday 4:30 p.m. mass,

Sunday 8:00a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., a rosary will be conducted 30 minutes before mass starts. Jim

Guganig has been setting up rosaries before mass for approximately the last 10 years at Holy Cross. Jim has been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1991 and remembers growing up when saying the rosary was considered a popular practice in the Catholic faith. Jim says in recent years, saying the rosary seems to have dropped off in popularity and he wants to do his best to make sure it stays a regular part of the Catholic faith.

Jim also says being a Knight is a good way to put your

Christian faith into practice. If you don’t have a Rosary, just look for one at the back of the church, where he keeps a steady supply for those needing one. Besides orchestrating the Rosaries before mass he repairs donated rosaries and coordinates for new ones to those that need one. Brother Jim distributes about 80 rosaries a month to those in need.

Please consider donating new or old rosaries, monetary donations to purchase more rosaries or spending time before mass to lead a rosary. Currently, the Sunday 9:45 and 11:45 could use 1-2 more helpers to lead a Rosary.

Contact Jim Guganig at (575) 526-1367 or jguganig@comcast.net

for more information. If you have not attended a rosary yet, please consider trying one before your mass.

Insurance Corner:

LTC Is an Important Piece of the Puzzle

There are many financial consultants and retirement authorities who emphasize the need for a long-term care

(LTC) product for estate preservation and family protection. While many commercial life insurance companies have gotten out of the long-term care business, the Knights of Columbus considers LTC a very

important piece of the family protection puzzle. The

Order has been actively offering our members this product for nearly 15 years without a premium increase on current policyholders. Members who wisely purchased an LTC plan from the Knights in 2000 are still paying the same premiums today. Even better, our

LTC coverage is backed by the full strength of the

Order, which remains rooted in our strong Catholic values. Talk about stability when it counts.

If we have not spoken about your need for LTC coverage in your family portfolio, please take some time out of your schedule to meet with me.

Remember, long-term care policies are underwritten based on your health, and you most likely will never be any healthier than you are today.
