I can break down words into the individual letter sounds. I can describe characters, setting and major events in a story. I can identify words that suggest feelings. I can use illustrations (pictures) to describe the story. I can compare and contrast characters. I can read words that have the suffix –ful, -ly or –y. I can write a made up story that has a beginning, middle and end. I can add and subtract within 10. Students can access our spelling words at http://www.spellingcity.com/spauldingk1/ . I will leave the spelling lists from the year open over the summer so students may practice spelling words. We have a reward day in which students can play outside and have a picnic lunch on May 30th.
