Mayhem Poets at RMS
The Mayhem Poets, a group originating from Rutgers’s University, is performing for the
students at Roosevelt Middle School on January 19, 2016. Kyle Rapps, Scott Raven and
Mason Granger formed their group to change the way people think about poetry. Their subject
matter which touches on today’s current issues is presented in a very entertaining and
humorous way. They draw the student’s into their performances through the use of hip hop,
rap and improv. Everyone will come away from the performance with a renewed respect for a
very old literary form – Poetry.
Round Robin Volleyball Game
Please join us on Friday, January 29th in the Roosevelt Gym for this fundraiser! Doors open at
6:00 p.m. Games begin at 6:30 p.m. Kids cheer on our Roosevelt Staff! (Teams: EMS, LMS,
RMS and WOHS) We will also be collecting non-perishable food for the local food pantry.
Please bring something to donate! Students $3.00, adults $5.00 at the door. Refreshments
will be available for purchase.
Eighth Grade Trip Payment Due
The next payment of $100 for the Eighth Grade Trip is due by January 29th.
RMS Clothing Drive
RMS will again be holding a used clothing collection. We are collecting: wearable & usable
clothing (men’s, women’s, children’s), shoes, belts, handbags, linens, stuffed animals, and
hard toys. No electronics please. DON’T THROW IT AWAY…Donate it to RMS. All items must
be in plastic bags… shoes must be in a separate bag. You may bring your items to the back
of the auditorium at Roosevelt as soon as you pack them up…as many as you want…. We will
be collecting until May 2, 2016. All proceeds will go to RMS. Thank you for your anticipated
cooperation. CLEAN HOUSE FOR A CAUSE!
Elective Sheets For 8th Grade Students
Eighth Grade Parents please have your child fill out their elective sheets for West Orange High
School and return them to their counselors Ms. Idrobo or Mrs. Ellingham ASAP. JANUARY
21ST IS THE LAST DAY FOR CHANGES.
PTA Meeting – Save the Date
Mark your calendar for the next PTA Meeting on Thursday, February 18th at 7:30 p.m. in the

Junior Interact Meeting
The next Jr. Interact meeting will be on Wednesday, January 20th at 3:00 in Room 312.
Jazz Band
Jazz Band will meet on Tuesday, January 19th after school.
Gamers Club
Gamers Club will meet on Thursday, January 21st after school in Room 314.
Student Council News!
Bingo January 21st - Bingo is free and snacks will be sold...PRIZES for each game! 3-4 pm in
Cafeteria.
Multi-Cultural Day - January 22nd. Dress for your culture!
Super Bowl Spirit Day - February 5th... dress for your favorite team.
Valentine NO FRILLS Dance - Friday, February 5th , 7-9pm Admission is $6 which includes a
red glow bracelet and drinks. Snacks and pizza will be sold!

RMS Yearbook
The RMS Yearbook is now on sale! Have a wonderful keepsake of the 2015-2016 school year!
April 22nd is the last day to buy a yearbook. The price is $30. Please give your check/cash
and order form to Mrs. McSharry in Room 216.
West Orange Scholarship Tribute Cards
West Orange Scholarship Tribute cards are now on sale in all West Orange school offices and
at the Board of Education. These cards make thoughtful gestures for birthdays, retirement,
graduation day, get well, thank you, or any other greeting or acknowledgement. Many buyers
purchase these in large numbers to use as note cards. The proceeds go directly and
completely to the support of scholarships for our West Orange High School graduating
seniors. All cards are printed on 4 ½" by 6" white stock paper. Each contains this message
inside: "An honorary contribution has been made to The West Orange Scholarship Fund."

If your child is no longer at Roosevelt and you would like to be removed from the PTA email
list, you can manage your subscription by www.tinyurl.com/wo-zone. You will be able to
remove yourself from the Roosevelt list and make changes to the schools that you want to be
subscribed to by following the simple online directions.
