The general assembly between GIXEL (professional association for electronic components systems) and SITELESC
(association which federates micro and nano electronics companies) members has validated the merge of the two
associations and the creation of the new organisation.
This new professional association, created on September 27th 2013, has been named ACSIEL (Components and
Systems Alliance for Electronics Industry).
In order to bring out and reinforce the electronics components sector of the FIEEC, GIXEL and SITELESC decided to
merge in the same professional association: ACSIEL (Components and Systems Alliance for Electronics Industry).
Its first chairman will be Gérard MATHERON, a graduate in Physics of the National Polytechnic Institute of
Grenoble. He is the VP of STMicroelectronics’s Research and Development and Public Affairs Group in France. He
has been manager of the Crolles site since January 2007. Before that, he had had key positions at CEA-Leti, SGSThomson (now STMicroelectronics) and at the head of MEDEA. Gérard MATHERON, has been President of STIC
(integrated within ACSIEL), he has been VP of FIEEC since 2011 and has been a member of the STIC team
established by the French Ministry of Industry in November 2010.
Gérard Matheron said, at the end of the merge and after he was named President: “The aim of the merge is to
provide ACSIEL a sufficient critical size, to confer a better representativeness with the customers of its members. It
will allow perpetuate actions and join over time within a sector in full evolution. This representativeness, security of
gratitude on the industrial place, adds to our credit with the national and international public authorities ".
This merge represents a fundamental step in the logical evolution which will allow a new association to set
us up as a leader on all markets irrigated by electronics and to complete its actions for its members.
Our electronics ambition in France:
 Galvanize and federate all actors of our profession
 Promote and defend our industry
 Develop initiatives and synergies between members
 Promote relationships between our members and their customers
 Be the preferred interface between our members and public authorities, national and international
 Sustain innovation and exchanges with universities and engineering school
 Reinforce members visibility to win new markets
 Stimulate trained professional to electronics jobs
ACSIEL (Components and Systems Alliance for Electronics Industry), resulting of the GIXEL and SITELESC merge,
represent all actors of the electronics industry. ACSIEL gathers 93 members which mobilizes 110 000 jobs and
realize a turn-over of € 11 billion. ACSIEL is member of the FIEEC (French association for electrical, electronic &
