The successful candidates will teach diagnostic imaging in the Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program as part of a team. Contributions to advanced clinical training programs will also be expected. Opportunities to participate in clinical and basic research will be available, according to the interests of the candidate. UCVM employs a distributed veterinary teaching hospital to deliver the majority of its fourth year program and the successful applicants are expected to provide veterinary services and engage in clinical teaching at one of our partner referral practices. Access to advanced imaging equipment including digital radiography, computed axial tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and ultrasound on campus and in the distributed veterinary teaching hospital is available. Qualifications include a DVM (or equivalent) and residency training in diagnostic imaging (board certification is required; eligibility for board certification will be considered). Demonstrated or potential teaching excellence is expected. A graduate degree is considered an asset. The appointment will be tenure-track in either the instructor (teaching only) or professor (teaching & research) stream. Part-time appointments for those wishing to engage in independent professional practice will be considered. Rank and salary will be based on experience. Candidates with appropriate training and an interest in research who are appointed in the professor stream will be expected to develop an independent or collaborative research program. Extensive collaborative opportunities exist at the University of Calgary, both within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and with other faculties or research institutes. UCVM has approximately 70 faculty members, 100 staff, 125 DVM students, 100 graduate students, and 15 advanced clinical trainees. UCVM’s DVM program provides a comprehensive general veterinary education to approximately 30-32 students per year. The program is an integrated core-elective program, with enhanced educational opportunities in defined areas, that combines discipline-based courses with extensive on-campus and off-campus experiential learning. UCVM is a research-intensive faculty with expanding research, graduate education, and advanced clinical trainee programs.
