Freshmen who were enrolled in the Derry School System will have their eligibility continued also until this date. Students who are eligible for free or reduced lunch must use their I.D. card at the register. If a card is lost or stolen please contact the Food Service Director for arrangements to be made for a replacement card. Students who participate are prohibited from giving, lending, exchanging or selling their meal to other students; violations will result in a minimum 5-day detention. Applications can be turned into the Main Office, directly to the Food Service Office, or mailed. Parents are notified via mail of the decision as soon as possible. Pinkerton Academy is not part of the Derry Cooperative elementary schools, for faster processing a separate application is needed for Pinkerton Academy students only. If an application is sent to a Derry school please call or e-mail the Food Service Director at Pinkerton to arrange a copy to be made. Reimbursement for long distance phone charges, from your home (used for questions about free/reduced application) is available for those who qualify, please call the Food Service Director for more information. USDA Nondiscrimination Statement “ The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) prohibits discrimination in all programs and activities on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, and marital or family status.” Advantages of Using the Debit Account/I.D. Card *Accurate record keeping and tracking of purchases Print-outs are available anytime and can easily be e-mailed *Safety / Convenience of not carrying cash *Faster check out time-just scan the card at register At this time we are looking at a direct deposit option, details on this when available will be posted on www.pinkertonacademy.net /departments/foodservices Prepayments/deposits can be made anytime in the special envelopes available outside the office door. Minimum deposit of $10.00 is preferred; checks should be made out to “Pinkerton Academy”, with student name and I.D. number if known. Deposits made after 10:00 A.M. will be credited on the next business day. Exception to this is during an early release day when lunches begin at 9:30 A.M. and prepayments made after 9:00 A.M. will be credited the next business day. Many students find it easiest to deposit money to their account during their lunch period. Therefore, it is necessary to be one day ahead so that the student does not "zero" the account. Deposits made at lunchtime will not be available for breakfast the next day. We do allow those students who have forgotten to bring in their money to “charge” 1 combo lunch, no extra items. Charging is not allowed in Snack Bars, once a student is in the negative, they cannot charge again without approval from the Food Service office. “End of week” balances can be found on the Web in your students file from Pinkerton Academy. Student accounts are only active in their assigned café. * Deposits for students must be made in their assigned cafe; therefore separate checks are needed for siblings in grade (9), (10&11) & (12th). All checks should have name, address and phone number of bank account holder. Any checks returned by the bank will be charged a $10 service fee and the account will be closed until payment in cash or money order has been received. On the day the returned check is received, the student is informed in the office, given a letter to take home, and then given a meal at no charge. A letter is also sent home. Unfortunately, if two checks are returned, personal checks will no longer be accepted. Forgotten ID Cards Every student has a lunch account and needs their I.D card to access their account. Our computer program is designed to scan these I.D. cards to provide accurate records for the NSLP and to maximize efficiency and speed in serving your child. We do understand that occasionally one hurries out the door and leaves the I.D. card at home. For those times, we have “one day” passes that can be picked up at your student’s administrator’s office, before getting in line, and then used as a regular I.D. card. Replacing Lost ID Cards The replacement fee for lost or damaged I.D. cards is $5.00. Replacement cards are available everyday from 6:30 A.M. to 7:10 A.M. in the Registrar's Office. The Registrar's Office is located in the Low Building, second floor, across the hall from the Guidance Offices. Students who cannot make the above times should see the Food Service Director or Kitchen Manager for an alternative process. Students are expected to keep their I.D. card in good repair. Lost or stolen I.D. cards should be reported to the Food Service office as soon as possible. Special Diets Students on special diets due to food allergies or illness should speak to the Food Service Director when special accommodations are necessary to meet the dietary needs for lunch or breakfast. Documentation is required and must be on file in the Health Office. Conduct Students are expected to discard all their rubbish in the proper barrels, keep their respective tables clean, return all trays properly and make a general effort to keep the cafeteria clean and presentable for others. It is essential that all students conduct themselves in an orderly manner while in the café. Any actions that pose a potential disruption, or loss/damage to school property, or stealing, will result in a minimum 3-day End of Year Balances Seniors who have a balance at the beginning of exams in June are refunded money according to the following schedule: Accounts are closed on the first day of senior exams for processing. Office hours are then posted for refunds in cash directly to the student, for balances under $20.00, balances over $20.00 are mailed home by check. If the student fails to pick up the money, a check will be issued and mailed when the amount is more than $5.00. Balances under $5.00 that are not picked up in person or transferred to siblings are donated to a scholarship fund. Any senior who owes money at the end of school will be sent to the administration for collection before they are cleared for Graduation. All underclassmen balances from the previous Pinkerton Academy year are carried over to the next school year.
