Program-wide duties:
o Create and communicate the overall vision and philosophy for the
boys program
o Create and communicate the Standards of Conduct for players,
coaches, and fans of every boys team
o Make sure that our Standards of Conduct are being met and address
issues of insolence when necessary
o Create the general program-wide curriculum and training system and
train all coaches
o Set the standard for boys team uniforms and apparel across the
program
o Work with the Youth Athletic Director on yearly budget projections
High School Program duties:
o Work with High School Athletic Director and the SCLA Board to
carry out our Drug Testing Program
o Work with High School Athletic Director on yearly budget
projections
o Hire all other high school coaches in coordination with the High
School Athletic Director and the SCLA Board
o Set up weekly or bi-weekly meetings with the High School Athletic
Director to ensure that the high school program is organized from
both administrative and coaching perspectives
o Manage the Varsity roster in terms of relationships and buy in
o Train all other high school coaches and make sure they clearly
understand and are capable of carrying out their duties
o Varsity Practice Planning and Coaching
o Varsity Game Planning and Coaching
 Be at as many JV games as possible as well
o Work with the JV Head Coach in creating and implementing
appropriate practice sessions and game strategies for the JV team
o Opponent Scouting with the Varsity Head Assistant Coach
o THSLL Committees
o THSLL and District Meetings
o Help College Recruiting with Varsity Head Assistant Coach
 Showcase opportunities
 Make contacts
 Highlight videos
 Consulting
o Game scheduling for Varsity and JV with JV Head Coach
o Organize and run tryouts and pick Varsity/JV teams
o Organize and run fall training sessions
o Organize and run pre-season activities in January
o Parent communication when it involves the entire high school
program or just the varsity team


o Daily meetings outside of practice with the Varsity Head Assistant
Coach
o Weekly meetings outside of practice with the JV Head Coach
o Organize full-staff meetings
o Make sure facilities are serviceable: fields lined, goals strung, etc.
o Make sure Dragon Stadium is treated with respect and we leave it in
the condition we found it after each home game
o Debrief with all other high school coaches, team managers, and
players individually after the season
o Debrief with the High School Athletic Director after the season
o Manage conflicts within the Varsity program
o Manage conflicts within the JV program when they can’t be handled by
the JV Head Coach
o Create the overall practice schedule for both the Varsity and JV teams
and work with the JV Head Coach to adjust for the JV team as
necessary
o Send out “Game Recaps” after each game to the varsity parents and
players including the official game stats
o In charge of all player conduct and punishments for the Varsity team
o Work with the JV Head Coach in regards to player conduct and
punishments for the JV team
o Ensure that the Varsity and JV Teams have the proper strength and
conditioning program in place both in-season and in the off-season
o Determine out of town travel, pre-season tournaments, or spring
break training that is necessary for the high school program
o Check grades for the Varsity team to ensure players are meeting our
academic standards
o Execute the high school program banquet after the season as
organized by the Varsity and JV Team Managers
Middle School Program duties:
o Train the Middle School Head Coach
o Set weekly or bi-weekly meetings with the Middle School Head
Coach to serve as ongoing training but also to ensure consistency and
that we are meeting our standards
o Check in from time-to-time with each Middle School Team Coach
o Assist with the tryout process and provide feedback to the Middle
School Head Coach on the player evaluations
o Debrief at the end of each season with the Middle School Head
Coach
o Help hire the Middle School Head Coach
o Help hire the Middle School Director
o Help manage any conflicts in the Middle School program that can’t be
resolved at the team level or age group level

o Train the Bantam Director on our lacrosse coaching philosophy
o Set weekly or bi-weekly meetings with the Bantam Director to serve
as ongoing training but also to ensure consistency and that we are
meeting our standards
o Check in from time-to-time with each Bantam Team Coach
o Assist with the tryout process and provide feedback to the Bantam
Director on the player evaluations
o Debrief at the end of each season with the Bantam Director
o Help hire the Bantam Director
o Help manage any conflicts in the Bantam program that can’t be
resolved at the team level or age group level
Duties and responsibilities of the High School Athletic
Director






















Field allocation for practices and games
Work with Varsity Head Coach on yearly budget projections
Set weekly or bi-weekly meetings with the Youth Athletic Director to help
ensure organizational consistency throughout the program
Set up weekly or bi-weekly meetings with the Varsity Head Coach to ensure
that the high school program is organized from both administrative and
coaching perspectives
Opening and Closing of Registration
Debrief at the end of the season with each high school coach
Make sure end of season surveys get sent out to each team and collect the
results
Choose Varsity and JV Team Managers and clearly communicate their
duties
Make sure that each Team Manager is executing their duties
Organize a High School Program kickoff get-together
Organize a High School Program team picture day
Stay on top of all “paperwork” with the THSLL and work with each Team
Manager and the Varsity and JV Head Coaches to make sure everything
gets filed properly and on time
Communicate any SCLA program-wide functions including fundraising
initiatives to the high school program
Help hire the Varsity Head Coach in conjunction with the SCLA Board
Help hire all other High School Coaches in conjunction with the SCLA Board
and the Varsity Head Coach
Manage any conflicts in the High School program that can’t be resolved at the
team level
Work with the Varsity Head Coach and the SCLA Board to carry out our
Drug Testing Program
Work with the Varsity and JV Team Managers to make sure each team has
the appropriate Parent Volunteers
Act as the Site Administrator for each Varsity and JV Home game or find a
substitute who will be able to assume that position
Ensure that we have a CISD Site Administrator for each Home game at
Dragon Stadium to open up and lock the stadium for us
Make sure that the Varsity and JV Team Managers create a committee to
execute a post-season high school program banquet as well as a senior night
celebration
Help execute the high school program banquet after the season as organized
by the Varsity and JV Team Managers

Coach all games and practices (and as many JV as possible as well)
Attend all team travel including pre-season tournaments and Spring Break

Keep track of Varsity Stat Book and keep an accurate running account of
varsity team and individual statistics throughout the season
o Re-stat the games based on the film
Make sure each Varsity game is going to be filmed
Submit the Varsity Game Reports on the THSLL website
Keep an accurate attendance log for the Varsity team for all team activities
Make sure the SCLA website correctly reflects the high school team schedules
and is displaying all relevant information
Attend the high school program banquet after the season as organized by the
Varsity and JV Team Managers

o Each age group and team is going above and beyond from an

Organize Uniform and Apparel Ordering in conjunction w/ the Middle
School Director, the 5th/6th Grade Director, and the Bantam Director and
make sure everything gets handed out and returned when necessary
Manage any conflicts in the middle school, 5th/6th grade, and bantam
programs that can’t be resolved at the age group or team level
Act as the Site Administrator for each Middle School, 5th/6th Grade, and
Bantam home game or find a substitute who will be able to assume that
position

Coach to ensure consistency and make sure that each coach clearly
understands their duties and responsibilities
Help create appropriate game strategies for each team (be at ALL or MOST
middle school games for each team)
Ensure that each Middle School Team Coach is adhering to our program
vision and following our Standards of conduct
Make sure that each middle school team is getting the appropriate strength

o Plan and execute a pre-season get-together to introduce the coaches
and parents and also to lay out some expectations for the season
o Work with 5th/6th Grade Head Coach and 5th/6th Grade Director
to communicate any last minute changes relevant only to that specific

o Hand in necessary equipment and uniforms to 5th/6th Grade
Director
o Manage any team conflicts and take them up to the 5th/6th Grade
Director/5th/6th Grade Head Coach when necessary
Duties and responsibilities of the Bantam Director





















Assume duties for both the fall and spring seasons
Organize tryouts for Bantam Team Coaches to execute and have final say in
picking Bantam teams
Decide upon and communicate any last minute practice/game changes to
each Bantam team
Find ways to meet/communicate regularly with each Bantam Team Coach
to ensure consistency and make sure that each coach clearly understands
their duties and responsibilities
Ensure that each Bantam Team Coach is adhering to our program vision
and following our Standards of conduct
Ensure that goals are strung and fields are lined for practices
Debrief at the end of each season with each Bantam Team Coach and
Bantam Team Manager as well as with the Varsity Head Coach and the
Youth Athletic Director
Attend and ensure participation by all Bantam Team Coaches in coaching
training conducted by the Varsity Head Coach
The Bantam Director should NOT also be a Bantam Team Coach
Choose Bantam Team Managers for each team and clearly communicate
their duties
Make sure that each Bantam Team Manager is executing their duties – each
team needs a team get-together early in the season as well as a post-season
wrap up party
Organize a Bantam Program kickoff get-together
Organize a Bantam Program team picture day
Organize Uniform and Apparel Ordering in conjunction w/ the Youth
Athletic Director and make sure everything gets handed out and returned
when necessary
Make sure that everything gets communicated clearly to parents and make
sure that everyone below you understands their role in the chain of
communication
Coordinate with the Youth Athletic Director and the SCLA Board on
opening and closing of registration
File any program-wide “paperwork” with the NTYLL and also work with each
Bantam Team Manager to make sure all team roster “paperwork” also gets
filed properly and on time
Communicate any SCLA program-wide functions including fundraising to
each Bantam team
Hire Bantam Team Coaches and place them in the right spots; make sure
each team has the right mixture of lacrosse knowledge but also managers
and organizers as well as at least two dedicated coaches per team
Schedule appropriate games for each team
Ensure that fields are setup prior to and cleaned up after each home game





Work with each Bantam Team Coach to schedule regular practices for each
team according to field availability communicated by the Youth Athletic
Director
Equipment management; make sure each team is equipped with balls, goalie
pads, cones, etc. and collect it all at the end of the season
Manage the needs of each team in terms of parents/coaches/players
relationships in order to ensure a great experience for all participants
Make sure the SCLA website is up to date with current information including
each team calendar
Conflict Management if it can’t be handled at the team level
Duties and responsibilities of each Bantam Team Coach

Assume duties for the fall and/or spring seasons (this is not a full-year
position)
Participate in any coaches training communicated by the Varsity Head
Coach or the Bantam Director
Execute tryouts and pick teams based on player evaluations
Plan practices and coach all practices for their particular team
Create appropriate game strategies for this age group and coach all games for
their particular team
Send out Game Recaps via email to parents after each game (the good,
needed improvement, etc.)
Follow the vision of the program and the standards of conduct
Develop a love for the game amongst your players
Manage practice and game absences for your team – make sure that if you
are running low on players for a particular game or practice you inform the
Bantam Director so contingency plans can be ready

Plan team get-togethers when necessary (at least one pre-season and a wrapup party at the end of the season)
File any necessary Team Paperwork with the NTYLL according to guidance of
the Bantam Director
Make sure the experience is above and beyond for the players and parents –
including Roster Cards for each team
