Dear Intermediate and Advanced Band Parents,
I hope everything is going well for you as we prepare for a busy semester. Thank you for
your continued support and encouragement of our band program and students. They
are developing into great young musicians and learning to work better with others.
This letter is to inform you of all the events that will be happening for the spring
semester. There may be a few events that may change and I will notify you of those
changes as they come along.
Please post these events so your child is prepared for each activity.

Intermediate and Advanced Band Spring 2014 Letter
Here is a brief synopsis of each event:
Students will be attending sectionals that will prepare us for OSSAA District Concert Contest on Tuesday,
March 4th. Let me know if you need some help getting your child there or home.
The Talent Show Auditions are optional. Students will have the opportunity to audition on Monday,
February 3rd and perform and compete on Thursday, March 13th at 9a/1p/7p at Goddard Center. Parents
are encouraged to attend. Admission during the day will be $2 to raise money for The Ardmore Band
Program and night admission price will be $5.
We will be preparing in class for OSSAA District Solo and Ensemble this event on Saturday, February 22nd.
OSSAA District Concert Contest will be for Intermediate and Advanced Band students. Students will need
to have all black attire for this contest, black shirt, black pants, and black shoes. Please let me know if you
need me to help with these items. Parents are encouraged to attend on Tuesday, March 4th in the
Konawa High School Auditorium. I will have performance times for you soon.
Our middle school band Solo and Ensemble Contest will be Thursday, March 6th from 4p-6p. Students will
be performing at this Solo and Ensemble competition. Students will be able to sign up starting January
22nd after school for slots to receive help from Mr. Aaron, Ms. Scott, Mr. Stevenson on their Solo and
Ensemble pieces. They will able to perform a Solo and Ensemble for the judges. After students
perform/compete they will be able to leave. Students will need to be dressed in the same attire we wear
for our concerts.
We will need parent help and participation with the Superior Solo and Ensemble Concert Band Fundraiser
Dessert and Concert on Sunday, March 9th at AHS Cafeteria. This money will help with our yearly band
supplies and travel. I will soon be sending out more information on what the students need to bring and
what help we will need from parents.
Our Sandy Lake Band Contest will be on Tuesday, April 29th. We are planning to be gone all day. We will
need parents to help sponsor this big group. Please let me know if you are interested and/or available. I
will let you know about the parent prices in the near future.
Monday, May 12th will be our ACS Instrumental Spring Concert. Students will rehearse during the day at
the Washington Theatre to prepare for the concert that evening. Students will need to be in concert
attire and in their assigned seats with their instruments at 615p and remain for the entire concert. All
parents are encouraged to attend.
Starting Tuesday, May 13th, 8th grade band students will have the opportunity to audition for high school
drum line, color guard, and also will be voting on Band Council for 2014-2015 school year.
