PRESS RELEASE 13.10.2014, 7.00 PM. At about 11.00 PM on 12.10.2014, Hudhud” crossed over the state of Odisha to Chhatisgarh and its present position is at about 90 km from Raipur. Rainfall is continuing in all the southern districts of the state. Water level of all the rivers is now below danger level. The water level of Vansadhara at Kasinagar is just close to danger level, but fast receding. 3 no. of deaths has occurred, 2 in the district of Kendrapara & 1 in Puri Death toll could be minimized due to timely evacuation of people from the vulnerable areas. 2,47,829 people have been evacuated and sheltered in 2197 no. of shelters. Free kitchen has been provided to all the evacuated people in the shelters. Besides, dry ration like Chuda, Gud, Biscuits with drinking water have also been provided. Health services have also been provided wherever necessary by the mobile medical teams. Evacuated cattle population have also been provided with cattle feed. Veterinary services have also been provided. Many trees, electric poles have been uprooted due to cyclonic storm. However, roads have been mostly cleared with the assistance of NDRF / ODRAF / Fire Services teams. Preliminary estimate indicate damage of about 80,000 private dwelling houses most of which are Kutcha. Infrastructure like roads, culverts etc. are also reported to have been damaged. Evacuated people have started returning to their homes. Some people whose houses have been fully/severely damaged may stay back in the shelters for another 2-3 days, if required. Relief as per norms will be administered. ******
