Austin High School is a comprehensive high school within the Austin Independent School
District. Art 1 Intensive will be offered at Austin High school for the first time in the 2015-16
School year. Art 1 Intensive is a non-weighted art course for the serious art student.
Applicants are expected to meet all requirements of the intensive curriculum, maintain
excellent school attendance and behavior, and, at all times, maintain passing grades.

VISUAL ARTS Portfolio:
Portfolio should include 3-5 art pieces that best represent your work and creativity.
You may include any of the following types of work:
• Examples of work from your middle school art classes, including 2D and 3D work
• A self-portrait with shading
• Drawings from observation (i.e. still-life, landscape, figure drawing, a pet)
• Artwork and creative pieces completed outside of the school setting
Photo Formatting: Please try to take photos of your work in natural lighting to capture the
most accurate colors and values. If submitting a hard copy application, please print
photos 8x10 to include with application. If emailing application, please attach photos to
email in JPEG format with maximum quality available.
