High School 21+ Transcript Evaluations – Guidelines for What Can Count
College Placement Test (CPT):
 Accuplacer or Compass score at college level within past 12 months
 Math – up to 2 credit equivalent (must include an algebra score)
 Sentence skills and reading (both at 100 level) – 2 credit equivalent
GED 2002 Test Scores (score alone may not be used to calculate high school credit)
 Test score must be 450 or higher on a printed transcript report
 Math, English, and Reading (for Elective) may count as one credit equivalents on the
Transcript Matrix
 Science may count as 0.5 credit equivalents for Science and Lab Science (total of 1 credit
equivalent)
 Social Studies may count as 0.5 credit equivalents for U.S. History & Government and
Contemporary World Problems (total of 1 credit equivalent)
High School Transcript (or equivalent):
 Credit requirements shown on Transcript form indicate high school credit completion
requirements based on the year the student would have entered 9th grade (freshmen year)
 All grades D or higher in classes that would count toward graduation may be considered
 Course titles must have an equivalent in the Transcript Matrix to transfer credit
 Courses that are coded as part of a Certificate of Attendance can count as elective credits
 High School credit of 0.5 is equivalent to 2.5 quarter credits at community college
Course Evaluation for Credit (Assessment)
Program Participation Requirements:
 Must attend Basic Skills orientation and complete program paperwork
 Must CASAS pre- and posttest in both Math and Reading
 Must attend at least 45 hours
ABE/GED/HS21+ Course Requirements:
 Must demonstrate competency in scored work within subject modules at 70% or higher
 Written work must demonstrate a Learning Standard for Writing ability at Level 4 (high
intermediate) or higher (required for English credits)
 May demonstrate knowledge and application of subject through alternative modes of
presentation.
 Math competence must be demonstrated in algebra and geometry (see attachment).
High School Completion Credits:
 Must register as an SPSCC student
 Identify intent to take course for High School Completion
 Must pay reduced tuition, fees, and class materials
 Must complete course with a C or higher to earn credit
Employment or Life Experience (Competency):
 May document prior knowledge in a written essay or presentation that links experience with
course competencies. Writing must follow guidelines provided.
 Written work must demonstrate a Learning Standard for Writing ability at Level 4 (high
intermediate) or higher (identified as LS4 in the matrix)
Training or Certification:
 Must show proof of participation – certificate of completion or competency, or other written
documentation
College Transcripts:
 Courses must have an equivalent in the Transcript Matrix
 Must have a course grade of C or higher to apply credit
