Curriculum Vitae Surname: Antopolsky First Name: Maxim E-mail: Maxim.Antopolsky@helsinki.fi Address: Hahaniemenranta 26A, 40, 00530 Helsinki, Finland Phone: +358 40 578 31 58 married, wife – Elizarova Tatiana (14.09.1960), daughter – Antopolskaya Ksenia (08.03.1991) I was born on 18.09.1961 in Moscow. In 1969 entered a special school number 9 in Moscow (English language) and in 1979 graduated. In 1979 entered the 1st Moscow Medical Sechenov Institute, Pharmaceutical Faculty, and in 1984 graduated getting a degree master of science. 1984-1987 was working as a head of the department of Diagnostic Drugs in the Central Moscow Drug Store. 1987-1989 was working in the Laboratory of Heterocyclic Compounds in the Moscow Vitamin Institute as a researcher (synthesis, isolation and purification of coenzyme A and its analogues). 1989-1991 was working as a researcher in the Laboratory of Peptide Synthesis in the Institute of Experimental Cardiology (Moscow Cardiology Centre) in the field of solid phase and in solution synthesis of amino acid derivatives, peptides, their isolation, purification and characterization. 1992-1993 got a Postdoctoral position in the department of Peptides and Nucleic Acids (Hoechst, Frankfurt-am-Main) and was working in the field of synthesis, isolation, purification and characterization of unnatural amino acids, their derivatives and peptide analogues. 1993-1997 was working as a senior researcher in the Laboratory of Peptide Synthesis in the Institute of Experimental Cardiology (Moscow Cardiology Centre) in the field of solid phase and in solution synthesis of amino acid derivatives, peptides, cyclic peptides their isolation, purification and characterization. 1997-2002 a researcher in the department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of Kuopio, Finland. Research field is synthesis of peptideoligonucleotide conjugates, isolation, purification and characterization of those novel compounds. 27 September 2002 defended PhD dissertation “Synthesis of peptideoligonucleotide conjugates” and got Ph. Doctor Degree. 29.10. 2003 got a Ph. Doctoral degree. 2003-2006 senior researcher in the department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of Kuopio, Finland. Research field is synthesis of peptides, modified olygonucleotides, peptideoligonucleotide conjugates and conjugate libraries, development of novel supports, reagents and methods for solid phase synthesis of oligonucleotides and peptide-oligonucleotide conjugates; isolation, purification and characterization of those novel compounds. During last years I dedicated a lot of my activity to the development of novel solid supports suitable either for solid phase stepwise synthesis of peptide-oligonucleotide conjugates or serve as polymeric universal supports for DNA / RNA solid phase synthesis. That work ended up with patent and patent applications mentioned in the list of my publications (11, 12, 15, 16). During last four years I kept giving a lecture and practical course on peptide synthesis for graduate and post graduate students of Kuopio University and supervise two PhD students in the area of solid phase synthesis. 1.08.2006 I’ve got a position in the group of Prof. Arto Urtti, DDTC, faculty of Pharmacy, University of Helsinki. I started the research in the field of structure – activity relations in cell penetrating peptides and development of peptide-based systems for gene delivery and cell targeting, trying to apply my chemical skills in the field of biopharmacy. From 2007 my field of interest also include design, synthesis and property studies of surfactant like peptides. Synthesis, isolation and purification of different compounds of oligonucleotide nature, such as primers, siRNA, antisense oligonucleotides, preparation of monomers and building blocks for solid phase oligonucleotide synthesis are also a part of my research duties. From 1.032008 I’ve got a position of a group leader in CDR (Centre for Drug Research, University of Helsinki) leaded by Professor Arto Urtti. In addition to the topics mentioned starting from this time my research field also includes synthesis of nanoparticles and modification of their surface with different peptides displaying cell penetrating and targeting properties in order to adjust targeted delivery of gene and gene related materials. From the year 2008 I also act as an academic editor in PlosONE journal. List of Publications of PhD Maxim Antopolsky 1.
