help anti-poverty charity ActionAid support vulnerable families in a country where
people struggle to feed themselves.

Severe, prolonged droughts and torrential rains devastated Lesotho’s agriculture.
Crops have failed for three years in a row, leaving many families without food.
70% of the Lesotho’s food is now imported from South Africa, but predicted
shortfalls in South Africa’s own food production coupled with general trends in
food prices rising means the poorest families face an uphill struggle to get
enough food. Many parents have moved away from the family home in search of
work, leaving children in charge of households and caring for younger siblings.
The money raised from the school will help ActionAid’s work with the most
vulnerable communities; training people in adaptable farming techniques that will
help them feed themselves and their community.
