Students are reminded that school policy states that students failing to attend class may lose their credit. Students are responsible to catch up on all work missed when absent. LATE POLICY The goal of Westgate’s late policy is to teach students to accept personal responsibility for their academic progress. Major assignments not completed by end of term 1, 2 or 3 will result in a grade of "incomplete" for that term. All major assignments must be completed by the end of term 4 or the student will not receive course credit. With respect to class presentations, students failing to present on their assigned due date will receive a zero unless they have made advance arrangements. Exceptions to this policy are possible only in cases of serious personal or medical circumstances. ACADEMIC HONESTY Students are expected to exhibit commitment to learning and to behaviour that reflects the school’s philosophy of openness and mutual respect. Students are expected to take personal responsibility for their behaviour in all areas of school life, and to be honest in their relations with other students and staff. Students are expected to submit work that is original and represents their own best efforts. Students are expected to acknowledge the sources of ideas and information, whether directly quoted or paraphrased, using Chicago style. EXAM There will be a final exam for this course. This exam will be worth 20% of the final mark. CONTACT INFO You can email me at hredfern@westgatemennonite.ca if you have questions about our class or an assignment.
