PCSC JUNIOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
WHAT:
Junior Board of Directors
WHY:
The Port City Skating Club proudly recognizes the dedication of its middle and high
school skaters who have committed themselves to rigorous academic challenges while
continuing to invest their time, passion and talent to the sport of figure skating. The
Junior Board has been created as an opportunity for PCSC teenagers to develop their
leadership abilities and apply them to a variety of volunteer, mentorship and community
outreach programs as they relate to the sport of figure skating. All current officers of the
PCSC Board agree to be active mentors of their mirror position on the Junior Board in
order to develop the skills and confidence necessary to execute their responsibilities.
WHO:
Youth Skaters (13 and older) who are current PCSC members in good standing. First
priority goes to highest order of grade level (Senior, Junior, Sophomore, Freshman, and
Middle School, where applicable.)
All members interested in applying to the Junior Board must complete an application
(available at www.PCSC.com) submit it in the PCSC lockbox and will be voted on at the
General Membership Meeting in May at the same time the full board of directors are
elected.
The Junior Board officer positions are available with the following selection criteria and
job descriptions:
PRESIDENT: High School Student
Establishes the goals of the Junior Board and creates timelines and establishes a plan to
execute those goals. Meets with the Junior Board and board sponsor once per month to
report on progress and activities.
VICE-PRESIDENT: High School or Middle School Student
Supports the goals of the Junior Board President.
SECRETARY: High School or Middle School Student
Records the minutes of meetings and maintains relevant records for the Board and gathers
information as necessary to plan or execute Jr. Board goals.
TREASURER: High School or Middle School Student
Maintains financial oversight of money received through fundraising efforts of the Junior
Board. All income received through the PCSC Junior Board will be earmarked for further
Junior Board development and opportunities.
BOARD SPONSOR:
One member of the current PCSC membership will serves as a sponsor to
oversee the activities of the Junior Board and attend the Executive BOD meetings
monthly.

WHEN:
Terms of the Junior Board shall be for one year and will run concurrently with the PCSC
Board: July 1 – June 30.
HOW:
Junior Board Annual Requirements should include, but are not limited to the following:
APRIL – Healthy Kids Day
The Junior Board will host a booth at the Healthy Kids Day event held annually in
Wilmington. This is an opportunity to promote ice skating in our town. The Jr. Board will
work with the ice rink, skate school, and hockey in a collaborative effort to promote the
sport of ice skating.
JUNE – New Member Meet and Greet
The Jr. Board will work with the Membership Director and Social Director to establish a
meet and greet session to welcome new members to the club. New memberships are vital
to our club growth and assisting new members to understand how the club operates in
imperative to a smooth transition. The ice rules and etiquette need to be discussed. This is
important for new and current members. This is also a time for the new skaters to meet the
veteran skaters so they can feel comfortable on freestyle ice.
OCT/NOV – Social Event
The Jr. Board will work with the Social Director to schedule a social activity for the club
members. The Jr. Board will talk with the members and come up with several ideas for an
event that will include all members (i.e., girls, boys, adults). These ideas will be put to a
vote by the membership. Once an event has been chosen, the Jr. Board will work with the
Social Director to host this event within the social budget guidelines.
DECEMBER – Community Charity Event
The Jr. Board will select one charity event per year to participate and give back to the
community. This will be up to the sole discretion of the Jr. Board with assistance from
their sponsor. This event can change from year to year.
OTHER OBLIGATIONS:
Competitions and Test Sessions
The Jr. Board will work with the PCSC BOD to provide assistance and runner services as
needed for all test sessions, competitions and expo events held at the ice rink.
Birthdays
The PCSC would like to recognize the birthdays of its members. The Jr. Board will keep a
list of birthdays and ensure that each member receives a card and ½ hour freestyle skate
pass on his/her birthday. Cards and passes can be obtained from the PCSC BOD.
