Combined Cessnock Small Schools Stage 3 Canberra Excursion 2014 Our wonderful small schools are combining this year to participate in an exciting and educational excursion to our nation’s capital to support a range of Stage 3 Curriculum Outcomes. Joining together on excursions such as these enables schools to reduce costs for parents, while allowing students a chance to mix with students of the same age from other local schools. This excursion is not until Week 10, Term 3 but the information below will allow you and your child to start preparing for the trip’s organisation and cost. Who: - Year 5 and 6 students from Millfield, Paxton, Congewai and Mulbring (Year 5 only). When – Tuesday 16th to Thursday 18th September, 2014 (Term 3, Week 10) Cost – $300/student. It is recommended that payment is made in installments. This would then work out to be about $15/week if you started next week. Please see your school’s office for payment. Full payment must be completed by Friday 5th of September ( Week 8, Term 3). $50 Deposit - So that bookings can be finalised, a deposit or installments of at least $50 must be paid by the end of Term 2 ( Friday 27th June). Note: Due to costing confirmations, students pulling out of the excursion after 27th of June will be liable for any cancellation costs. This may include the loss of deposit or up to full cost of the excursion (dependent on cancellation costs). Don’t forget that each school holds funds to help families who may be experiencing financial difficulties. Please see your school principal for support if needed. Itinerary Please see the attached itinerary sheet for a list of the exciting attractions and learning experiences. Behaviour Expectations Cessnock’s small schools are well known for their exemplary behaviour. For this reason, please remember that it is a privilege to attend this excursion, not a right. Students who do not display positive behaviour at school in the weeks leading up to the excursion may have their invitation to attend this excursion withdrawn. Accompanying Staff/Parents Unfortunately due to the number of schools participating, parents are unable to participate in this excursion. This is due to cost, space and child protection restrictions. Each school will be sending at least one staff member to ensure students feel safe and supported on this excursion. Expression of interest forms: To confirm our accommodation, we will need to have accurate numbers by the end of this term. Therefore the expression of interest form and $50 deposit/instalment must be returned by 27th of June. More specific information and medical notes will follow closer to the excursion If you have any further questions or queries, please feel free to ask your school for more details.
