Review phases of the moon using the Mystery Word slide show. Draw each moon phase and write a description in a foldable dictionary with or without a partner. Students should be familiar with the vocabulary and visuals. The teacher will ellicit information about the phases of the moon from the students. Words and phrases will be written on chart paper as a Word Splash. This information will be used by students when creating their foldables. Review phases of the moon using the Mystery Word slide show. Draw each moon phase and write a description in a foldable dictionary with or without a partner. Teachers can assess student comprehension of the material through participation, responses to the Mystery Word activity, and by reviewing pictures and descriptions written in the foldable dictionaries.
