Kingston University, School of Education offers a number of Primary School Direct training and salaried places in partnership with Lead Schools.
The NCTL designated Teaching Schools with whom we are working for 2015-16 are as follows:

These schools are Lead schools in established alliance partnerships with other schools, and as well as training primary teachers, Latchmere School are supporting Secondary Teacher Training (Biology,
Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, German and Spanish) at Cranford School and Chipstead Valley
School are supporting Secondary Teacher Training (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics) at
Oasis Academy.
If you are interested in undertaking your training in one of the above schools and studying at Kingston
University, we would welcome your application via UCAS-TT . You will need to apply directly to the Lead
School who will review your application. If you are short-listed, you will be invited for interview at the
Lead School and if successful, will be offered a conditional place on the programme. Please note your placement school may be different to the Lead School.
The course entry requirements for the School Direct Programmes are:
A 2:2 or above UK honours degree
GCSE English, maths and science at grade C or above
Recent classroom experience in a primary school
You will also need to pass the Professional Skills Tests in literacy and numeracy before you begin the programme and obtain Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) and Medical Clearance. Please note the DBS and medical checks will be undertaken by Kingston University once an offer is made.
Course Information
School Direct Training
The course will begin on Wednesday 9 September 2015 when you will be required to attend
Kingston University although you may be expected to attend your placement school prior to this. Please liaise with the Lead School contact for further information.
The structure of the course is the same as PGCE Primary mainstream which means you will spend your time at the University with PGCE students until you begin the Phase 1 School
Experience placement in November 2015. There are Creative Practitioner and Preparatory weeks in February and March 2016 respectively which will help you to prepare for Phase 2 of your school experience beginning in April 2016 and your required written assignments.
You will be awarded the Qualified Teacher Status and PGCE with 60 Masters level credits upon successful completion of the programme.
The fee for the course is £9,000 (candidates are eligible for student loan and bursaries where appropriate, see NCTL website ).
School Direct Salaried
You will only be required to attend the enrolment session at the Kingston University on
Wednesday 18 September 2015. All other days will be spent at your placement school.
Your training will be provided according to the school’s approval training plan.
You will be awarded the Qualified Teacher Status upon successful completion of the programme.
As a School Direct salaried trainee, you will receive an unqualified teacher’s salary as an employee of the school and because of this you are not entitled to any financial support.
