Teaching and learning activities Time Activity 0 Welcome and registration Introduce the learning objectives. 5 Play the Digi Bite video Healthy balanced diet. (3 ½ minutes) Explain to the students they will be looking at healthy eating and government guidelines. 10 Work through the Introduction to nutrition, asking students to keep notes on the main points on their note sheets. Challenge them to investigate nutrient sources and functions. Explain to the students that the note sheets they will complete will be used in the next activity. 30 Speed dating activity about nutrients Each student will require their note sheet and a Which nutrient are you? worksheet. Pass around a box of nutrient labels and ask each student to select one. Arrange two lines of chairs either side, facing each other. Ask the students to take a seat and explain that they will be given two minutes to take turns asking each other ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions about the nutrient they selected.
