Teacher: Chiquita Gaylor Week: 8/31-9/4/2015 Grade/Subject: 9th (Physical Science) 504 SPED: Day M 8/24 CCSS/GLE Purpose Statement CCSS/GLE: -Conduct an investigation that includes multiple trials and record, organize, and display data appropriately (SI-H-A2) -Utilize mathematics, organizational tools, and graphing skills to solve problems (SI-H-A3) -Write and defend a conclusion based on logical analysis of experimental data (SI-H-A6) (SI-H-A2) - Given a description of an experiment, identify appropriate safety measures (SI-H-A7) Assessment Description of Lesson Students will complete Bellringer: The students will complete daily bellringer observation lab. Students will assignments using teacher created topics. (see below) obey lab safety rules and procedures. PS: Students will utilize skills obtained in experimental scenarios to identify variables, write a hypothesis, communicate results and write an appropriate conclusion. Teacher Input: The teacher will orally discuss bellringer questions allowing students to discuss their rationales. Guided Practice: The students will review a lab safety video and orally discuss lab safety rules and procedures. Teacher Input: The teacher will orally discuss bellringer questions allowing students to discuss their rationales. The teacher will model steps to complete data collection, recording and measurements. Independent Practice: The students will use “measuring lung capacity” to collect and record data. Students will use small collaborative groups to complete part 1 of the activity. (See attachment right). Scientific Method, Hypothesis, Observation, Control Group, Experimental Group, Independent Variable, Dependent Variable, Data, Constant, Experiment ( Review Vocabulary) W CCSS/GLE: SI-H-A2 (2) PS: Students should know the steps in the scientific method. Students will be able to determine what steps are being applied using hypothetical scenarios Differentiate between Bellringer: The students will complete daily bellringer observations, inferences and assignments using teacher created topics.
