Technical Business Analyst \ Solution Designer
Worked for 4 years on a number of projects on the Macquarie Premium Funding (MPF) Online Application.
MPF Online provides insurance brokers the ability to request and manage premium funding loans on behalf of
clients. MPF Online is a Vendor Off-the-Shelf application, customised heavily for Macquarie and deployed on
Macquarie Infrastructure. Was a successful member of teams ranging from 4-50 people, on projects from $50k
- $6M AUD. Started as a senior SQL and Windows batch developer, including setup and configuration of
application and database servers. Was promoted to Technical Business Analyst \ Solution Designer with sole
responsibility for gathering and documenting technical requirements and translating requirements into
solutions after 2 years.
1. Advanced Internal Ratings Based (AIRB) Project - Technical Business Analyst \ Solution Designer
 The AIRB regulatory project implemented the formulas and algorithms necessary to use Advanced
Internal Ratings Based (AIRB) to determine required capital for Premium Funding loans.
 Was part of a team of 3 gathering technical requirements and designing the implementation of the
AIRB formulas and associated user interfaces and back office processing.
 Requirements Gathering for data used to determine Loss Given Default (LGD), Probability of
Default (PD) and Exposure at Default (EAD) Calculations required for AIRB, including regulatory
requirements around data retention for the Banking Data warehouse.
 Requirements Gathering and creating functional specifications for new user interfaces and changes
to existing user interfaces for capture and display of new IRB specific data.
 Defined Business Requirements for interface between MPF Online and Data Warehouse to store
data related to AIRB, including Data Analysis and migration of historical data.
 Translated Business Requirements into functional and non-functional specifications.
 Designed Back Office Processing including the translation of highly complex LGD and PD formulas
into algorithms for third party vendor implementation.
 Designed System Interface of new system interface to newly created MPF Data warehouse.
 Designed Data Migration to migrate historical data used to develop the LGD, EAD and PD formulas
from Microsoft Access to the MPF Online warehouse in Oracle.

Achievements:
 I had the sole responsibility in designing and ensuring correct implementation of the PD, LGD and
EAD formulas. This implementation was a critical part of the accreditation process for AIRB with the
Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and if this implementation was incorrect in any
way, Macquarie would not achieve AIRB accreditation. This successful implementation of AIRB was
the first of its kind for Premium Funding in Australia.

2. MPF Online 1.1- 1.3 - Technical Business Analyst / Solution Designer
 MPF Online 1.1-1.3 were a number of iterative upgrade releases each containing a number of small
functional enhancements to MPF Online including updates to system interfaces.
 Requirements Gathering for a number of different small changes to be implemented regarding
electronic payment files, reporting and automated client correspondence.
 Designed User Interface including changes to existing screens to facilitate new data entry.
 Designed System Interface and mapped data for regulatory Central Credit and Anti-Money
Laundering (AML) feeds to link into the Banking feeds for the Macquarie Risk Management team.
 Managed Release including planning, managing stakeholders, risk review and mitigation, post
verification and rollback plan review and release of changes into production.
 Reviewed Functional Specification and Detailed Design Documentation from third party vendor to
ensure solutions designed met requirements.
Achievements:
 I planned and managed all 3 iterative releases. All releases were implemented 100% successfully on
their first attempt, with only no defects found related to the release during the warranty period, saving
Macquarie release budget (approximately $45k AUD per release).

3. MPF Online Commission - Solution Designer / Senior Developer
 The MPF Online Commission project was a $5M+ project to replace the legacy Macquarie Premium
Funding Systems with a single system (MPF Online).
 Worked in a team of 40+ team members involved in commissioning the new system including Data
Migration, Nightly Batch processing and Enterprise Integration
 Designed Back Office Processing of nightly batch processing stream and nightly batch processing
framework, including standardised logging, error handling and recovery features.
 Development of nightly batch processing stream and nightly batch processing framework, and
configuration scripts to automate deployments for each new development build.
 Performed Enterprise Application Integration of the Vendor Application onto Windows Server
2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 infrastructure and Enterprise Security.
Achievements:
 I designed and implemented the nightly batch processing stream due to my previous batch processing
experience. This implementation has been in production for 2 years without a defect. This framework
is critical, without it the entire stream would fail, preventing business from completing EOD activities.
 I successfully integrated the Vendor Application built with technologies that were outside of
Macquarie expertise with Macquarie's Enterprise Security, including customising authentication
routines for an external facing web service. The integration I performed was critical as it receives 80%
of the applications' loan volume, no business case could justify the applications use without it.
 I was awarded a promotion to Manager level for the results I achieved on this project.

1. MPF UK Affinities - Technical Business Analyst / Solution Designer
 Project implemented the ability for clients to automatically renew loans when insurance policies were
renewed, requiring modification of the way the system generated BACS payment files, and handled
AUDDIS messages.
 Requirements Gathering and documentation for new Direct Debit Request (DDR) and Direct Debit
Instruction (DDI) process to be implemented which modified the way the system handled final and
first payments of a loan renewal for clients, whilst allowing the system to handle AUDDIS messages
in the event of DDI Mandate Changes and creation of Functional Specifications.
 Designed User Interface of new DDR and DDI management screen and changes to additional screens
to incorporate renewal information for vendor implementation.
 Designed Back Office Processing of new BACS payment file generation and AUDDIS message
handling, including an in-depth analysis of the payment scheme and liaising with BACS
representatives in the UK to ensure adherence to the scheme.
Achievements:
 I gathered the requirements and designed the change to the BACS file generation. The implementation
from my design was successful, having no defects reported in 1 1/2 years of operation.

2. MPF UK Commission - Windows Batch and SQL Developer
 Project implemented a new premium funding system - MPF UK, for the new Macquarie Premium
Funding UK business.
 Requirements Gathering and Development of nightly batch processing stream.
 Performed Enterprise Application Integration of Vendor Application with Windows Server 2003
and Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
 System Testing of customised features delivered by vendor for Macquarie.
 Development of System Interfaces by commissioning a Unix DMZ server for secure file transfers
between the U.K Broker and Macquarie, liaising with external UK I.T teams and internal Macquarie
teams to setup network links, security and redundancy.
Achievements:
 I was a successful team member critical to the team in ensuring the entire project was completed in a 6
week timeframe to adhere to contractual agreements. To ensure we met this deadline, I also
volunteered to and carried out system testing in addition to my role in development.
 I was solely responsible for the successful setup of the DMZ zone for file transfers between Macquarie
and the UK Broker, without this link no business could be transacted.
