We l c o m e t o P e a c e w i t h C h r i s t
We’re glad that you’ve joined with us today to receive the gifts of
God’s grace given in his Son Jesus Christ. It is our sincere hope that
these provide you spiritual refreshment and strength, confirming you
in the promise of eternal life that is ours in Christ, both now, and in
the age to come.
Since worship involves substantial things, you may wish to prepare
through personal reflection and prayer, as many in our congregation
do. To facilitate this, we intend that the pre-service time within the
sanctuary be a quiet, tranquil environment, and we do appreciate
everyone’s considerateness in this regard. The time before worship
also offers an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the order of
service, which is detailed in the following pages.
If you are a guest with us today and would like to learn more about
our congregation, please ask a greeter or an usher for a copy of our
welcome packet. Also, if time permits, take a moment to speak with
our pastor; he would love to make a personal connection with you.
Marriage Is a Sign that Manifests the Gospel
of Christ and His Church
Humanity is created in the image and likeness of God. “It is not
good that the man should be alone” (Gen. 2:18). For the Lord
Himself is a perfect communion of three Persons — the Father, Son
and Holy Spirit — in one God. Therefore, “the LORD God caused a
deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his
ribs,” which “he made into a woman” and brought “to the man”
(Gen. 2:21–22). It is for this reason that “a man shall leave his father
and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one
flesh” (Gen. 2:24; Mark 10:7). This great mystery of holy marriage
signifies Christ Jesus, the incarnate Son of God, and His Bride, the
Church. Divorce and all manner of adultery contradict and undermine
this sign, and in doing so, they confess a false Christ and a false
gospel. “What therefore God has joined together, let not man
separate” (Mark 10:9). In truth, Christ Jesus has atoned for all such
sins, and He has perfected marriage in Himself “through suffering,”
that He might bring “many sons to glory” in His resurrection (Heb.
2:8–10).

p. 210
The Lord’s Supper is celebrated in this congregation in the confession and
glad confidence that, as He says, our Lord gives into our mouths not only bread
and wine but His true body and blood to eat and to drink for the forgiveness of
sins and to strengthen our union with Him and with one another. Our Lord
invites to His table those who trust in His words, repent of all sin, and set aside
any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us, that they may show
forth His death until He comes.
Because those who eat and drink our Lord’s body and blood in an
inappropriate manner do so to their great harm, and because Holy Communion
is a confession of the faith confessed at this congregation’s altar, any who are
not yet instructed, in doubt, or who hold a confession of faith differing from that
of this congregation and The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod are asked to
refrain from receiving the sacrament until they have spoken with the Pastor.

LWML Hymn
~At the final stanza of the hymn, the congregation stands, facing
the cross as it is processed out of the nave.
Serve the Lord with gladness, It is He alone
Who redeemed us sinners, Guides us as His own
To enjoy the blessings Of His love and grace
Will at last in glory Meet us face to face.
Chorus:
Onward then for Jesus, Let this be our aim
Serve the Lord with gladness, Glorify His name.
Serve the Lord with gladness, Us He gave command
To proclaim His Gospel Now in every land.
So that fellow sinners May, like us, be blest.
Leading them to Jesus, We can serve Him best.
Chorus
Serve the Lord with gladness, Is there greater joy
Than to serve the Master, Deigning to employ
Us to build his Kingdom? Angels too rejoice
Over every sinner Brought to heed his voice.

October Program: Monday, October 12th at 6:30pm
LWML's 2015 Bible Study theme is inspired by 2 John 6, “And this
is love, that we walk according to His commandments.” We begin
with food and fellowship at 6:30pm then ease into our study of the
5th Commandment lead by Kay Rubel. Hostesses will be Eunice
Nierman and Julie Frank. All ladies are welcome.
• Today is LWML Sunday: A special service “Seek Ye First The
Kingdom” will celebrate all God has done through the LWML.

General
Preschool
This week in the lesson will be “Crossing the Red Sea”
Today in Sunday School
The children will complete their study of how God worked in
Joseph’s life. “Joseph Forgives” and reveals himself to his
brothers, telling them that though they meant evil, God used their
acts for good. Our Lord Jesus Christ reveals Himself to us and
forgives us in His Holy Word and Sacraments. Families could
discuss, “How was God with Joseph, blessing him through all that
happened, the good and the bad? How has God turned bad or evil
things in your life or world into blessings for your good?”
Reformation Festival Choir
Singers of all ages are invited to join the Reformation festival
choir, which will sing for both services (before the sermon) on
October 25. Our rehearsals are 7-8 p.m. Thursdays, October 1, 15,
and 22 (NOT October 8). Sign up in the narthex or contact Kelley
Pichel at 988-5199 if you have questions. Music is available on the
choir area filing cabinet.
Hope to see you October 1!

A Christian Guide to End-of-Life Decisions Seminar
The Life Team of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3411 S.
Taft Ave., Loveland invites you to the seminar on October 17,
2015. Guest presenter will be Rev. Dr. James Lamb, executive
director of Lutheran’s For Life.
Advances in life sustaining technology, increasing
healthcare costs, and a culture that offers death as a solution to our
problems will combine to raise many questions about end-of-live
concerns. Dr. Lamb’s presentation will focus on the fact that
Christians have a unique, Gospel-centered approach to dealing
with these and other issues regarding end-of-life decisions.
Rev. Mark Nierman will also be speaking with
consideration given to the theological aspects of a Lutheran (and
Christian) funeral.
The seminar begins with registration and coffee time at
8:30am and will conclude at 2pm. There is not registration fee.
There will be a freewill offering. To register call or email Mount
Olive Lutheran Church at 970-669-7350 or
mountoliveloveland@yahoo.com by October 5th.
