Project Manager Job Description
State of Emergency Productions is seeking a dynamic project manager for our ambitious
national and international touring project for 2016 ‘Where is home?’ with outreach
workshops.
Freelance Contract 8 days per month
One year fixed term contract (based on 46 weeks per year)
Extension of contract negotiable on completion.
Contract commences July 2015
Fee: 13,800
Project Manager is responsible to:
The Senior Management Team (Artistic Director and Managing Director)
Essential Skills required:
Project management and administrative skills
 Minimum of two years arts project management experience
 Excellent arts administration and project management skills
 Familiarity with Arts Council England’s Strategic Plan for the Arts
 Excellent communication and written skills
 Excellent computer skills
 Experience of line managing artists
 Efficient and thorough working practice
 To be the key first contact regarding management of productions, projects and
tours
 To research and develop national opportunities and partners for project delivery
Production and touring skills
 Familiarity with UK venues/promoters and touring landscape
 Tour booking skills (selling work to promoters/venues)
 Creating rehearsal schedules and booking rehearsal studios
 Ability to liaise and co-ordinate duties of production manager as and when
required for events
 Booking, buying and scheduling travel and accommodation
 Knowledge of international touring
Financial skills
 Managing project budgets and Excel spreadsheets
Human resources skills
 Negotiating fees, contracts, terms and conditions etc

Strong communication, networking and people skills
Managing auditions and rehearsals
Education and outreach skills
 Knowledge and experience of education, community and outreach work
 Some familiarity with Government aims and objectives for children and young
people
 Establishing and costing appropriate workshop, residency and masterclass
events
 Booking, selling and fundraising education and outreach events and projects
 Efficient delivery, liaison and artist support in education/community work
 Familiarity with good practice within educational or community contexts
 Delivering feedback, evaluation and monitoring of education/community work
Fundraising skills
 Familiarity with public sector funding systems and schemes: Arts Council
(regional and national), British Council, Visiting Arts, local authorities, Lottery,
government and international sources
 Familiarity with private sector funding landscape: corporate sponsorship,
patrons and private giving
 Familiarity with fundraising with Trusts and foundations
 Networking
 Ability to research and prepare funding applications and proposals
General
 Familiarity with Health & Safety, Disability, Equal Opportunities, access and
discrimination issues
 Familiarity with insurance and liability issues
 Time management and project monitoring skills
 To be a strong advocate of the organisation and promote the company’s brand
and identity
 To attend appropriate networking and industry meetings as a representative of
the company when necessary
