WEEKLY COLLECTION
Due to early transmission of the bulletin collection
reports will be listed at a later date.
The Importance of a Last Will and Testament:
Remember the Church in your Last Will &
Testament. Her prayers will accompany you to
heaven. Through your Last Will and Testament you
can also help those deprived and less fortunate, to
learn of God's infinite love and compassion by
leaving a legacy through the Church. After
considering your family and friends in your Will,
why not think of leaving a gift to the family of the
Church? It is a way of thanking God for the
blessings you have received during your life and a
wonderful way of ensuring that the faith and values
we cherish will be carried on in the future. Discuss
this option with your financial advisor or those who
assist you in these matters.

YEAR OF MERCY
The Year of Mercy began on December 8,
2015. As part of the celebration of the Year of
Mercy and our parish will have a Mass every
Wednesday at 12:10. After Mass confessions
will be available until 1:00PM.
“They presented Him with gifts of gold,
frankincense, and myrrh. They received a
message in a dream not to return to Herod, so
they went back to their own country by another
route … In Christ Jesus the Gentiles are now
co-heirs with the Jews, members of the same
body and sharers in the promise through the
preaching of the gospel.”
On this day in the life of the church we discover
the presence of the Christ, bring Him the gift of
ourselves, and receive the wonderful gift of His
life in grace through the sacraments.
DIVINE MERCY ALTAR ROSARY SOCIETY
The Divine Mercy Altar Rosary Society will
meet on Sunday, January 3rd at the 8:30am
Mass. The rosary will be prayed before
Mass. Following Mass a meeting will take
place at the parish office. A warm welcome is
extended to anyone wishing to join the Altar
Rosary Society --come and see the good that
the Rosarians do for our parish community.
BLESSSING OF HOMES
A wonderful tradition during the Christmas and
Epiphany season is the Blessing of Homes.
The Blessing includes a prayer that God will
protect your family during the coming year, the
house is sprinkled with holy water and the
names of the Three Kings who visited and
worshipped the Infant Jesus in Bethlehem are
written above the lintel of the main door with
blessed chalk (Caspar, Melchior, and
Balthasar). If you wish to have your house
blessed, please complete the form below and
return it in the collection basket or drop it off at
the Parish Office. The Blessing will begin after
January 1, 2016. Thank You!

HOLY DOOR AT DIVINE MERCY
(taken from the article in THE MONITOR entitled: Local parishes celebrate opening of Year of Mercy)
“Elizabeth Zbaski, a member of Divine Mercy Parish, Trenton, was completely taken by surprise when her
pastor, Father Dennis Apoldite, asked her to create special symbols to adorn the designated “Holy Door” in her
beloved Holy Cross Church. Yet she set out to fulfill the honored task with prayerful reflection and great
consideration.
As she mapped out her design, Zbaski was mindful of Divine Mercy Parish being comprised of English, Polish
and Spanish-speaking communities. She wanted to create “simple symbols” that spoke each parishioner
personally. Using paint, plywood, sculpy (baked clay), twigs and branches from her yard, epoxy and some help
from her husband, the fruits of Zbaski’s handmade labor resulted in exquisite symbols that represented mercy,
forgiveness and hope.
Set in the archway at the top of the set of gold-plated doors is the symbol of a cross that is draped with a sprig
of branches (thorns) and two large nails, which serve as reminders the sins people carry as they enter church.
The door’s left panel features images of hands reaching through the “thorns” as if reaching out to Jesus him for
forgiveness. On the door’s right panel are symbols of the Crucified Jesus and a message about the Year of
Mercy. The white rays, made of molding, represent the Holy Spirit. The idea behind the images, Zbaski
reiterated, is to encourage people to “make Jesus your friend.” “We all are human and we all sin. But if we
reach for Jesus, he will help us. Jesus is there to help us all to be better people, better humans,” Zbaski said.”
OUR SPECIAL THANKS TO THE ZBASKI FAMILY
