AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO ARTS AND CULTURE IN COUNTY LEITRIM
Leitrim County Council is conscious of the huge contributions that are made to Arts and Culture in all
their forms by people and groups in County Leitrim.
For this reason it is proposed to initiate an Awards Scheme which will be held annually to recognise
outstanding contributions to arts and culture in the County.
It is acknowledged that Arts and Culture cover a wide span of headings including music and dance in all
their genres, stage and film, the spoken and written word, Irish language and culture,
painting, sculpture, drawing and many other forms.
In recognition of this, it is not proposed to make awards for specific categories, but to present a total of
five awards for outstanding contributions to Arts and Culture in the County by individuals or groups
under the following general headings;One award for outstanding contributions by youth (under18),
Three awards for outstanding contributions by adults,
One award under the hall of fame/lifetime achievement category.
We need the assistance of community groups and organisations (national and local) who have a role,
however small, in the promotion and development of Arts
and Culture in Co. Leitrim.
It is proposed to establish a panel of nominating bodies who will, in due course, be asked to submit
nominations to be considered by the adjudication panel.
If your organisation feels that it could play a role in the nomination of worthy nominees-either
individuals or groups, please respond in writing to the undernamed not later than 5pm on Wednesday
2nd March 2011.
Your response should give basic details of the activities of your organisation/group and details of its role
in the promotion and development of Arts and Culture in County Leitrim.
