-
Be sure to take your imagery TDEC very seriously. This will be great practice for the test, and a
great opportunity to form good “TDEC habits”
-
Review notes on quote-weaving and elaboration. You will lose points for not citing, not weaving
fluidly, and not making sure your TDEC, including quotes, is in 3rd person, present tense.
-
Review the models I have shown you so far (diction, imagery, and tone model). Copy them by
hand onto paper to get a sense of the sentence structure and marker verbs used, and the way to
analyze the effect of devices, ESPECIALLY for commentary. You can find electronic of all the
models in the website agendas.
-
Review the elements of voice in the resource packet: diction, syntax, imagery, and tone. You will
be analyzing an element of voice in the story you read for the test (you will be given a story on
the day of the test).
-
Review theme in your resource packet. Be sure you’re comfortable writing a theme statement,
and then using that statement to address how an author creates meaning in a passage.
