Anchor Club Meeting
September 25, 2014
SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Call to Order:

 Make sure you sign in before you leave today.
 If you are dressed up for Homecoming make sure it is marked by your name to receive an
hour.
 Remember if you are absent, you must turn a written note in or send an email to Alex or
Mrs. Williams, Ms. Cook, or Ms. McCormick explaining why you missed the meeting. If
you attend PSC/UWF on the morning of meetings, you must also let Alex know in order
to be excused.
 All members must meet the requirements to be a member: dues paid (cannot refund dues
because they will be sent off to International and state), fundraiser participation, 5
service hours the first nine weeks and a total of 20 for the school year, attendance to
meetings, and a 2.0 GPA. If requirements not fulfilled than membership will be dropped.

Autumn
Anchor dues ($30.00) must be turned in by today, September 25th, at the latest! If there
is an issue with not being able to have your dues paid by then, please see Mrs. Williams,
Ms. Cook, or Ms. McCormick. If you do not have your dues with you today, see Mrs.
Williams or Ms. Cook after the meeting.
Checks are to be made out to Pace High School and make sure you write your name on
the bottom left of the check.
Operations:

 Anchor meetings will be held the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, at 8:45 am, in
Freedom Hall unless we tell you different. The next Anchor meeting will be on October
9th. Please be on time so we can start on time.
 Anchor initiation will be October 27th, at 6:30 pm at Locklin/Russell Center. All new
members are required to be there unless excused by sponsors. (College classes, sports,
school related reasons or sick). If you have an issue regarding attending this event then
see a sponsor. Parents are welcomed to attend
 Information - We have a Facebook page. Pace High School Anchor Club – ask to join.
All information (agendas) with be on the Facebook page and on the Pace High School web
page under Anchor Club. We are not planning on giving handouts out at all the meetings.
Budget is tight so we will communicate through the web. If you do not have access to
internet you can stop by Mrs. Williams’ office and pick up a hard copy of each meeting’s
agenda.
Fund Raising:

 Every Anchor is required to participate in ALL the fundraisers. Not just some of them.
 Donation letters- Everyone is required to turn in 15 names and addresses of people they
know that might send in a donation. The people can live anywhere across the world that a
stamp will take a letter. The names/addresses are past due today but you can still turn
them.
 Mixed Bags- Due today, if you forgot the orders and money then you must turn then in to
Mrs. Williams in Student Services tomorrow. The orders must be processed asap.
 Making Strides Basket give-a-way – each Anchor is to bring in a PINK item (more if you
like) to go into the basket. The more items we have, the more baskets we will have to use
to make money. All proceeds will go toward the Anchor Team’s donation to the Making
Strides again cancer walk. Bring in your receipt to get Anchor $ hours. NO USED
ITEMS!!! All items due by October 9th. You can turn them in at a meeting or to any
sponsor.
 Cow bells, light up bracelets, and LED flashing glasses will be sold during lunch. Bells $2, Glasses - $5, and light up bracelets – 2 for $1. Spread the word and buy them.
 KONA ice at field day – buy one for Anchor
 If you have a great idea for a fundraiser, let a board member or sponsor know.
Projects:
Payton
 Pop Tabs for Ronald McDonald House. This will be an on-going project throughout the
year. Turn the pop tabs in to a sponsor.
 Vision of Hope – October 28th – Located at the Transition Center. (The old par 3 building
at Stone Brook). Time - 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
 October 2nd - SS Dixon Intermediate Family Fun Night – helping at different booths and
line dance. You can work all night or pick a shift. 4:00 pm – 8:30 pm.
 October 4th - Alzheimer’s Walk -7:30 registration, 8:00 walk- Bayview Park in Pensacola
- Help fight Alzheimer’s by bringing at least a $10 or more for a donation to this event or
turn in your donation before the event to Mrs. Williams (no checks please – all money will
be turned in directly at the event).
 October 17th – Pea Ridge Elem. – Movie Night – 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The need help with
different things - located in the Lunch room.
 October 20th- Teacher Planning Day- Help a teacher at any Santa Rosa School and get
Anchor Hours. Make sure to have the teacher e-mail Mrs. Williams with the number
of hours you worked for her/him.
 October 23rd - Pea Ridge Elem. – Science Fair – 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Located in the
lunchroom.
 October 25th - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk - Help fight cancer by bringing
at least a $10 or more donation to this event or turn donations in early to Mrs. Williams
(no checks please – all money will be turned in directly at the event) . It will be held at 8
am and it starts at Cordova Mall. Make sure you bring a donation with you if you didn’t
turn it in before.
 October 25th – Brain Tumor Walk/run for Research 5K – Downtown Pensacola at the
Plaza De Luna Park. Start setting up at 6:30 am, race starts at 8:00.
 November 15, 2014- Miles of Memories 5K – Registration 7:00 am – run/walk 8:00 a.m.
at Seville Square in historic downtown Pensacola – Walk $10 donation; Run/walk - $20
donation (early or goes up day of)
 S.A.I.L. – located at the Berryhill Administrative Complex – collecting gently used men’s
and women’s (junior size) khaki pants, collared shirts, socks and shoes. The items will
assist the students who have successfully completed the School to Work Program to look
their best for their interviews.
