Class of 2015 Elections President Steven Langballe: I wish to become a class officer for a few good reasons. First, Student Council has done so much for me during this past year. I got the chance to work with some of the best people in the school and my experience was amazing. Second, the Class of 2015 is without a doubt the best class in the school, and I would like to help my class in continuing to do great things. Finally, I really want to give back to the school and my class, and what better way of doing that then to be class president. There isn’t much to improve with our class. We have a great group of people that are very reliable and trustworthy to get things done. But if I had to pick an area of improvement it would be class participation as a whole. To have a bigger percentage of our class involved with activities so it’s not always the same 20 people doing everything would be great. I offer a lot when it comes to leading groups of people. As an Eagle Scout, I have led numerous scouting programs to success. My leadership role within the marching band has given me the opportunity to work with all types of people and how to accomplish a goal. If each class improves, the school as a whole will improve. What a notable way to improve the school than to start with our class. Edison High School is already a great school, and the Class of 2015 is the best. I would like the ability to lead our class as your Senior Class President as we continue to be the trend setters of the school. Kaylee Howlett: During the past year I could be considered a very active student council member in the class of 2015 student council and I believe that I could handle the responsibility of a student council officer position. Already this year I have dedicated time and money to be a part of my student council. I enjoy being a part of the group that will make my prom spectacular. I want to become president for my classes student council because I know I can handle the responsibility and implement my ideas that would benefit our class. A position such as an officer would give me the opportunity to really make an impact. I know as president I could unify my class to support our fundraising for prom while holding fun activities the whole school can enjoy. I would help improve the school and class by continuing the multiple fundraisers that our student council holds as well as new ones. Events such as our recent bonfire were very successful and the time and effort was paid off with the profit we made. There was also a success with the talent show which our class held this year and it got a lot of people involved. I would continue these fundraisers and events to ensure that not only my class continues raising money for prom but that school has more school spirit. I would implement more spirit into the school by thinking of new and creative ways to get the students involved. That would be my main goal to not only help my class but to also bring our school together within the student population. With having only a year left of high school I want to leave my mark by making it the best year ever including a great prom and a general increase in school spirit. Destini Preisler: I want to become a class officer because I love being involved in the school and getting thing dons. Becoming president is really important to me this year because I know I can help a lot with raising money for Prom. I know a lot of the junior class and look forward to getting to know every one of our future seniors. I love being involved in school and I do a lot of different volunteering. I hope to bring new activities and fundraising. Also I am a very talkative and friendly person so if anyone ever had an idea, they could just come right up to me and chat. I promise I won’t bite. J Just in case someone does not see me in school, I also plan on creating an email, solely in order to stay in contact with our future senior class and of course, you can message me on fb, twitter, or Instagram. I can improve the school by having more fundraisers in order to raise money for prom and other senior class related activities like trips. I would also like to bring back school dances since a lot of students have approached me already and have asked why our school does not have spring and winter dances. When it comes to dances, prom, and other events, I can get our school a huge discount since my father is a DJ and is always asking if he can host the parties at my school. He plays all of the good party music, and knows how to turn up a crowd. Hopefully we can have more dances, more bake sales, and more outdoor activities like car washes or flag football completions. Something new and different to get the whole school involved and bring our senior class closer. Katrina Solarte: As an upcoming senior at Edison High, I, Katrina Solarte am a candidate for Senior Class President. There are many reasons why I would want to become part of the Senior Class board. Out of all the years I've attended Edison High School one of the moments I've been looking forward to is senior year. This is the year where all the last memories are made and many events such as prom, and graduation occur. This is also the year where my fellow candidates and I can make an impact in Edison High history. The class of 2015 has the opportunity to be one of the greatest classes to step foot on EHS grounds, and I am determined to succeed. To be Senior Class president there are several responsibilities that come with the job. I am eager to pursue the role of president of the class of 2015. With my enthusiastic and positive attitude, I am insistent on spreading my outlook throughout the school. Over the years the spirit of Edison High has not been fulfilled to its true value. But as president I am willing to bring new ideas and amazing events that will not only benefit my class, but the entire school. With the help of my team every move taken will benefit our class to making this a memorable and awesome year. Vice President Amie Ko: My name is Amie Ko and I am running for Senior Class Vice President. I want to become a class officer because I know I am capable of fulfilling all of the responsibilities that are tied to having a leadership position. Because I was given the opportunity of being this years Vice President, I was able to get a first hand experience of how much work is needed from all Student Council officers. From my experience as Vice President I know that I have the dedication and passion needed to help my class succeed. This year we've been able to raise so much money for our senior prom and with my help as a class officer, along with my fellow officers-to-be, I believe together we can make our last year at Edison High the most memorable. As Vice President I would love to increase school spirit. School spirit is probably the area of our school that needs the most work. Without the support of our own class, let alone the whole school, Student Council would have nothing. School spirit is what brings people out to the talent show, it's what allows us to create memories through the different events we have, and it's what inspires us to unite as a whole in order to help improve not only our school, but also the community. Also, as an officer, I would like to encourage others to get involved. Giving back to the community is one of the most rewarding feelings and as Vice President I want to help give students at EHS as many opportunities to help make a change within our society as possible. Not only does getting involved benefit the community, it allows one to meet so many wonderful people and create lasting friendships. There are so many reasons I would like to be Vice President of the Senior class, and I hope I am given the opportunity to help make this school a better place. Sumy Tharakan: I would like to become Vice President for my class (class of '15) because I believe I could make a major change in the school's perception by the student body. As well as my other fellow candidates, I believe that this school needs improvements in many ways. By starting off next year as VP, I could utilize my social skills to greatly improve the school's measure of enthusiasm. Primarily, I would like to start off with the school's spirit. For example, pep rallies, in my opinion, could use a boost of energy from the audience- they should have just as much energy the students on the field have. Also, I would love to plan various events for the students to come to after school, and after their clubs/activities. I feel that I possess plenty of creativity and understanding to coordinate events that would appeal to the student body. With all of our Student Council's great ideas I know that we would be able to make next year the best year yet! Secretary Shweta Modi: Leadership is defined as “the process in which an individual influences a group to attain a common goal.” Being a leader is taking on the role of responsibility in order to attain mutual cooperation and positivity. From Student Council activities to outside in the community, I believe that I have held true to this description of what it means to be a leader. As the current Junior Class Secretary, I have directly taken part in organizing a variety of school events to not only help our class, but to also increase school spirit. Maintaining my position as the Class of 2015’s Secretary would be both an honor and a privilege. As our class’s current secretary, I have developed the skills and knowledge needed to conduct events and to stay organized. As Secretary, I have been responsible for taking notes and inputting ideas together in order for our countless events to run smoothly. Not only have I been an active leader during junior class meetings and events, but I have also reached out to the community along with the other officers. For the Bonfire, I was able to save money for our class by contacting a former Edison High alumnus who provided us with free firewood. None of the events this year could have been as successful as they were without the communication and diligence of our advisor, class officers, and I had If chosen to represent the senior class as secretary, I would continue to show proper work ethics by keeping track of hours for the 100+ members actively involved. Ultimately, my prior experience and commitment to Student Council make me a likely candidate for secretary of my class. I have many ideas on how Student Council can improve my class and the school. Back in middle school, many students would participate in an annual event called Community Night. Each room would represent a different country from around the world and students would prepare foods and activities. The community always enjoyed the performances held and learning about different cultures. Because of the positive impact that this event had, I would love to bring it to Edison High. Our school is home to a variety of cultures, and holding this event would bring different clubs and the community together. All in all, I promise, as Secretary, I will listen to my peer’s ideas and keep an accurate account of meeting discussions and hours. The Class of 2015 has a lot of potential in leaving an impact on our school, and I would like to continue being a part of that during our last year in high school. Rhea Lobo: Senior year is soon approaching for the class of 2015 and my main goal is to make it as memorable as possible, with the help of my fellow candidates. I believe that I am well qualified for the secretary position for our senior class of 2015. As an organized, active, and optimistic person I know that I will be able to fulfill the role and duties of the secretary position. Along with my efficient note taking skills ,creative ideas and amicable personality I am positive that I will have a lot to contribute to the student council committee. With my dedication and desire to always complete my tasks on time, I will be beneficial to the whole of Edison High. Many may say, that Edison High School does not have the best reputation . However, I am determined to change this perception for the better and make the class of 2015 a year to be remembered. In order to do so, I am willing to surpass any obstacle that may come in the way of this goal. It is hard to believe that we, as a class, have made it this far, senior year is our chance to shine. I am confident that with the student councils perseverance and the support of our fellow class mates, we can positively impact Edison High School history ! Treasurer Christine Thomas: Over the last three years, I've grown the most from my experiences in Student Council. I've been blessed to be a Class officer for three years, and have been able to accomplish more than I ever thought possible. During my terms, the Class of 2015 has raised over $2,000 from events such as the Bon Fire and the Talent Show, and as an officer I've played a key role in executing these events. I want to be the Class of 2015 Treasurer so I can continue to help out with fundraising from an executive position and I believe my experience makes me the most capable person for the job. The Class of 2015 has been one of the most successful classes because it has had consistency with its leadership. Having been an officer for three years, I understand the amount of time and energy that goes into having a successful Student Council. I am able to balance school work and Student Council work because I've done it before and it's become easy over the years. I also understand the responsibilities that come along with being a student council member go further than just an individual's class, but include spirit and pride throughout the entire school. I've attended many general student council events and have helped out in any way I could. Because I understand the importance of school spirit and unity, I feel I am able to properly lead the class of 2015. All in all, I am running for Treasurer because I love math and am responsible with money. I have always been in honors math classes and plan to study business in college, and my passion in both areas has allowed me to be a successful treasurer for the last three years. As treasurer I have been able to budget events and record finances, which is something I personally enjoy. I also have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, such as ticket sales, which helps with accuracy in maintaining proper records of sales and profit. To conclude, I want to be a Student Council officer to ensure my class has the best prom possible by raising lots of money, and genuinely feel I will be the best person for the job. Ravi Vyas: Personally, my meticulousness and methodical nature would be considered my most appealing qualities regarding my campaign for Class of 2015 Treasurer. These qualities are what differentiate myself from my competitors and make me an optimal selection for treasurer. But what is the main reason why I decided to run for Class Officer? Primarily, I want to make the Class of 2015 senior year the best it can be. I want to bring change to the name of Treasurer, and make it more meaningful than it already is. By managing our profits, I will be able to make all class events more exciting and more extravagant, while simultaneously adhering to event budgets. My less roundabout answer would be because I want to make a difference in the Eagle Community and, with my organizational proclivity, I feel I can make the most significant impact on the Eagles Community by becoming treasurer. Sahir Mirza: Hello class of 2015. My name is Sahar Mirza and I am one of the candidates running for treasurer for the senior class of 2015. For the past 3 years, it has always been my dream to become an officer and lead my senior class into a successful and fun year. As an active student council member, I believe it is the perfect time for me to transition to the position of class officer. I have put forth much time and effort in the affairs of Student Council, and thus am readily equipped to face the challenges which lie ahead. My previous experience has refined me so that I will be able to overcome potential roadblocks. Also, my involvement with Student Council has given me the needed experience to create and implement effective ideas which will further benefit the student body. The plans which I have would certainly help our senior class reach its full potential. Primarily, I would make sure that our funds will not be wasted and will be used exclusively to make our last year at Edison High filled with effective money-making activities and fun. Additionally, with my organization and marketing skills, I will be able to make wise choices with our money, utilizing such money to its fullest capacity. I ensure that the money which Student Council does raise shall be used in a way most beneficial to our student body. I wish to be the treasurer because I am responsible with my own personal finances and I feel that such responsibility is needed in our student government. With my innovative characteristics, the class of 2015 will get the most out of our school year!
