Jessica W. T. Leung, MD, FACR Dr. Jessica Leung is Professor of Diagnostic Radiology and Chief of Breast Imaging Section at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. She heads a section of nearly 40 breast imaging radiologists in providing leading-edge clinical breast imaging services to the greater Houston population. She also leads this large group of faculty in the research and education mission of the cancer center. A native Californian, Dr. Leung graduated from Harvard University with summa cum laude honors followed by medical training at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. She completed an Internal Medicine internship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston then returned to California for Residency in Diagnostic Radiology and Fellowship in Breast and Women’s Imaging at University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Leung began her career in the Breast Imaging Section of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Oncoradiology Division of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston. She then returned to California as Assistant Professor in Residence at UCSF and was promoted to Associate Professor in Residence at UCSF. During her tenure at UCSF, she held the position of Director of Breast Imaging Research and Education and earned numerous honors, including the Hideyo Minagi Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award. Subsequently, Dr. Leung became the Medical Director of California Pacific Medical Center, a large comprehensive breast center in San Francisco. In additional to a full range of breast imaging services, including screening and diagnostic mammography, ultrasound, MRI, and percutaneous breast interventional procedures, the center also conducted breast cancer programs such as treatment navigation and patient recovery. Dr. Leung serves on numerous national committees, including the American College of Radiology (ACR) Committees on Economics, BI-RADS, and Education. She is also a clinical reviewer for the ACR Stereotactic Biopsy Accreditation Program and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Accreditation Program of Breast Centers in American College of Surgeons. Dr. Leung’s academic interests include outcomes analysis in clinical breast imaging, especially in areas of utilization, predictive values, multimodality correlation, and minimally invasive biopsy. Dr. Leung has published peer-reviewed research studies and review articles in breast imaging. She has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally and has received many teaching awards and recognitions. She is a Fellow of ACR and Society of Breast Imaging.
