SNCF Réseau (SNCF Network) and TEKTOS have created a startup accelerator dedicated to the
SNCF Innovation Accelerator by TEKTOS - Call for Tender - May 2015
selection and the acceleration of 5 innovative projects which will help create solutions for the
SNCF network (rails, overhead lines, signaling systems...)
Foremost : a 17 week intensive workshop, 6 months of individual coaching, and hosting in
TEKTOS offices in order to help raise the first round of funding, provide the best mentors,
technical and commercial experts, events and seminars, and plenty of opportunities to test out
the solutions you've developed!
SNCF Réseau proposes 3 subjects for the call for tender. Read over them well, and do not
hesitate to make propositions - we are ready to help launch and accelerate your start-up!
1. Objectives of the Call for Tender
SNCF is launching a strategic call for tender today for it's INFRA branch, with the goal of helping
maintain and survey it's 30,000 kilometers of French railways, 24/7. This also includes the
management of circulation of SNCF's over 15,500 daily trains, and to export the technology and
engineering across the globe.
SNCF Réseau is pushing on innovation and research to help augment the technical and
economic performance of it's French rail network, and improve the satisfaction and security of
it's passengers.
Intelligent connected devices, fixed and mobile, are deployed throughout the network. Devices
which measure the circulation and monitor the condition of the network. SNCF is working on
analysis tools to control and direct the integration of these new data points.
Tens of thousands of operational agents whom are becoming equipped with phablettes will be
able to field manage the infrastructure of the network on a daily basis.
The difficulties vary and require a high level of expertise and precision. The millions of passenger
lives and billions of investments and turnover are both at the heart of the SNCF collaborators on
a daily basis.
SNCF Réseau and TEKTOS have selected three principal domains for this call for tender.
2. Three principal domains of Call for Tender
• The creation of mobile applications (Human-Machine interface) oriented businesses, at the
disposition of operational agents and specialized on the following subjects:

the control of the signaling and other devices along the railways,
◦
the impact of environmental variations on the operation of the infrastructure,
◦
the management of reparative maintenance as well as the prevision of
preventative maintenance.
• The creation of functional systems, fluid and communicative :
◦
permit the identification and access to the inventory (and to update it) of railway

◦
supplies (rails, ballast, signaling devices, electric traction installations),
open and improved access to the technical specifications,
aid in decisions, thanks to the history of decisions taken in similar situations,
• The development of intelligent automatic taking, recognition, and interpretation of data
interpreted from embedded sensors (cameras or other types) by the network status
monitoring devices in order to identify the gaps between what is in the database versus
reality.

5. Criteria for applicants
The candidacy is open to individuals, teams, and startups which are already launched, or in the
process of launching.
You must have an entrepreneurial spirit, dedicate 200% to this project, and have the ambition to
develop a solution which will have an impact on the ways of travel.
The Accelerator will be in Paris.
The project will use solid connections and backgrounds (experience and/or training) :
• An understanding of the development of user friendly applications,
• Experience and understanding of the problems of big data,
• Specialists of machine learning,
• Statisticians,
• Specialists of image recognition and interpretation,
• Specialists of telecom networks and contactless technology
• Specialists of infrastructure
• etc...
6. Background of the companies behind the SNCF Accelerator by TEKTOS

and 25,000 tons of merchandise each day.
The second biggest investor being the French public, including 52,000 collaborators, SNCF
Réseau is in charge of the maintenance and of the modernization of the existing infrastructure
with the priority on strategy. SNCF Réseau is charged with a grand plan of modernization (more
than 2,7 billion euros and 1500 construction works each year) with priority given to daily use
trains from the classic railway network.
