Position Description: The Welcome and Integration Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing the welcome and ongoing support of prospective members, new members, and volunteers who participate in the life and ministries of the Cathedral. Duties and Responsibilities Welcome of Newcomers and Guests: Coordinate and expand existing program of Newcomer Receptions to welcome new members into the life of the Cathedral Respond to newcomer inquiries. Develop and implement a system for tracking and follow up. Regularly attend Sunday worship services, Wednesday evening Cathedral night, and other major Cathedral events. Greet visitors and members; answer questions and offer individualized attention to those needing assistance. Liaise with event coordinators, sextons and staff to ensure that groups visiting the Cathedral facilities have a positive experience. Supervise the Welcome Center and coordinate the volunteer staffing of the Welcome Desk, including: greeting and directing visitors, sorting and preparing mail, operating telephone switchboard. Small Group Support: Support clergy in the development of a small group ministry. Catalog existing small groups and develop and maintain membership rosters of those groups. Receive requests for joining small groups and place individuals in groups. Welcome and greet those checking in for small group formation experiences on Wednesday evenings. Assist in the development and support of small group leaders. Manage and expand small group materials library. Lay Ministry Development: Create and maintain a directory of existing Cathedral ministries and their lay leaders and volunteers. Work with clergy and staff to identify needs and opportunities for volunteer support. Develop and implement volunteer orientation, policies and guidelines. Coordinate a ministry fair to promote Cathedral Ministries and opportunities for participation. Coordinate the annual volunteer dinner. Key Attributes of a Well Qualified Candidate: Ability to build relationships and empower others to be effective in their roles. Will identify, initiate and facilitate positive outcomes for guests, newcomers and members. Able to organize and manage time for self and others. Strong project management skills Can work with diverse types of people and communicate tactfully and effectively in both written and spoken form Solid knowledge of office software – Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook. Knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge a plus. Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities. Minimum of three years experience in program and/or event coordination. Previous experience working with at a church or non-profit preferred.
