of Kerr Village BIA.
The family friendly bike ride will travel along
residential streets about 2 km to the Kerr
Village Pumpkin-palooza.
We are thrilled to have Canadian National
Triathlon Champion and 2012 Olympian Kyle
Jones helping us to promote Oakville Cycles.
Kyle encourages everyone to get out and ride
with their families, although he has to miss
the actual ride as he is competing in the
Bahamas. All kids participating are eligible to
win some cool swag autographed by Kyle .
Bicycles can be parked in a secure, valet Bike
Corral at Heritage Square on Kerr Street as
families enjoy the Halloween activities. Gears
Bike Shop will offer mini bike tune-ups in
conjunction with Oakville Cycles Bike Corral.
Helmets are encouraged for all, but
mandatory for those under 18 years of age.
All types of bikes, trailers, trail-a-bikes,
tandems, trikes and whatever rolls are
welcome! Halloween costumes that are safe
for cycling and decorated bicycles are
encouraged.

$110,000 raised, the 2012 Terry Fox Run
was a resounding success as Oakville
residents honoured a Canadian hero and
raised money for ground-breaking research
being funded by the Terry Fox Foundation.
As Chair of the Oakville Terry Fox Run, it
was heartwarming to see so many people at
the event. Team Darrell was again out in full
force in their red t-shirts honouring Darrell
Atherley. My team, Team Max, led by threetime cancer survivor Max Khan made its
debut this year. We also saw several
corporate teams, including Ford of Canada,
Hopedale Mall, Oakville Hydro and Karen

MPP Kevin Flynn surprised me before the

community service. It was humbling and a
real honour, and I was so grateful to receive
it an an event that means so much to me.

Having worked with LiUNA
(Labourers International Union of
North America) on the Santa Claus
Parade, I knew how involved they
are in the community. I reached out
to them and they came through in a
big way. Not only did they donate
$600 to help with the costs of
delivering the books, but they
arranged for a large pickup truck to
drive 55 boxes of books from
Oakville to Thunder Bay.
This first shipment of books is being
distributed to 24 fly-in communities
by Wasaya Airline, and all money
collected will be used to pay for the
air freight.
