SAVE THE DATE: Board of Education Meetings-October 21st and November 18th- All meetings begin at at 7:00 p.m. at the Administration Building, 70 Conover Road, unless otherwise indicated. Stay in the know and show your support for the staff that help make this school community great! Monday, October 26th. The CNTEA will host its annual blood drive. Many thanks to Mrs. Filiano for coordinating a worthwhile event for a great cause! Last year we collected 48 pints! Join the members of the CNTEA to help top this feat! Staff members will be on hand to meet and greet donors, entertain children, and serve up some yummy post blood donation baked goods! October 29th 7:00 p.m.- CDMS Talent Show! Many thanks to Cedar Drive Choral Music Director, Mrs. Krystyna Hubbard, for organizing this annual event. Join us for an evening featuring a variety of student performances. SOCKTOBER: Throughout October, join Cedar Drive’s Make A Difference advisor Mrs. Leclercq, Conover Road Elementary’s Mrs. Desmond, and Conover Road Primary’s Mrs. Wendell as they join forces with Kid President to collect socks for the homeless. Well, we have searched out that information for you and have discovered that…. Emily Keefe (2009) CDMS’ own Wendy in Peter Pan, is currently studying theater and dance at Muhlenberg College. Emily has done several musicals since middle school, including Cabaret (Sally Bowles), Hairspray (Penny Pingleton) and The Addams Family (Morticia). She wrapped up filming two independent films this summer and is getting ready for her first feature film, Bogie and Bacall where she will portray Judy Garland. Emily will be studying physical theater abroad in Italy next semester at the Accademia dell'Arte. Emily credits Cedar Drive for helping her to find her passion in the arts! Briana Tarby (2002) Oboist Briana Tarby began as the Co-Principal Oboe of the United States Coast Guard Band in New London, CT in September 2012. Prior to receiving this position, she was accepted as an Oboe Fellow with the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida. Since moving to Connecticut, she has also performed with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, and Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra.Briana received her Master of Music from Mannes College The New School for Music in 2012, and her Bachelor of Music from Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music. She was the winner of concerto competitions at both schools, performing the Eugene Goossens and Richard Strauss Oboe Concertos with the school orchestras. While in the New Jersey/New York area, Briana performed in several orchestral, chamber and solo concerts. Highlights include a performance of the Kalliwoda Concertino with the Colts Neck Community Band, serving in the orchestra for the 2011 NYC New Year's Eve Concert for Peace, and playing for the second inauguration of President Barack Obama. She has spent summers studying at Interlochen, Brevard and Aspen.Briana currently lives in Colchester, Connecticut with her husband, violist Nicholas Citro.
