Sports Premium Action Plan (Updated September 2014)
Success criteria: To further improve the quality and provision of Physical Education and sport at St Thomas’.
At St. Thomas’ we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of our pupils. In addition, it is considered that an outstanding PE curriculum
and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of the children.

March 2014-In October 2013 KM
and WH attended very useful half
day training on gymnastics. The
materials provided on the day
have since been used to develop
a sequence of successful lessons.
In every other staff meeting we
have been looking at the
requirement of Curriculum 2014,
in February 2014 we looked at
the PE section and have begun to
look at ways to develop our
planning.
The
SLT
are
currently
investigating new wall bars and
have sought advice from a
professional.
During the summer holiday we

had a brand new ‘Trio Frame’
installed to replace the old wall
bars. The children have already
been using the wall bars to
develop gymnastic skills and we
hope to continue this throughout
the year.

over £440 was spent on new
playground equipment. Evidence

show that pupils are enjoying the
new activities.
The Change4Life club ran in the
Autumn term and enabled a
range of pupils to engage in
healthy activity.
Miss Hoy is currently in discussion
with Tom Prichard about starting
a lunch time club aimed at less
active pupils, funded by the
Sports Premium.

3. To develop provision for

WH and EYFS team
Tom Pritchard’s multiskills club
was highly successful in the
summer term of 2014. Involving
nearly 30 pupils (both in KS1 and
KS2) who didn’t attend school
clubs previously. Tom has already
been booked to continue these
clubs and we will continue to
fund this using the Sports
Premium money.
The playground equipment has
continued to be very popular,
particularly since we began
putting more than one activity
out each day. We have
supplemented our current stock
using the Sainsbury’s ‘Active Kids’
vouchers.

March 2014-Balance bikes were

Unfortunately they were faulty
and have been returned and

competitions in Cross Country,
Netball and Hockey. The children
really enjoyed the cricket
coaching they received.

page on our website to
communicate effectively
with parents.
