If symptoms of reddening are noticed in the crop spray 5% magnesium sulphate+ 1% urea+ 0.1% zinc sulphate. Chilli Fruiting stage In the prevailing weather incidence of fruit borer may occur in chilli. Set up pheromone traps for Helicoverpa armigera or Spodoptera litura at 12 Nos./ ha. Spray Bacillus thuringiensis at 2 g/ l. Collect and destroy the damaged fruits and grown up caterpillars. Provide poison bait with carbaryl 1.25 kg, rice bran 12.5 kg, jaggery 1.25 kg and water 7.5 l/ ha. When damage crosses economic threshold level spray chlorpyriphos 20 EC Brinjal Fruiting stage 3 ml/ l or quinolphos 25 EC 2.5 ml/ l. The prevailing weather is conducive for the incidence of shoot and fruit borer. Due to the infestation by the pest wilting occurs. Remove and destroy the affected terminal shoots showing boreholes. Remove the affected fruits and destroy. Spray carbaryl 50 WP 2 g/ l + wettable sulphur 50% WP 2 g/ l. SMS: No rain. Cotton- spray 2% magnesium sulphate+ 1% urea on need basis. Reddening in cottonspray 5% magnesium sulphate+ 1% urea+ 0.1% zinc sulphate. Thoothukudi & Tirunelveli Crop/ Farming system Rice Stage / Activities Advisories Maturity As dry weather is expected in the coming days irrigate the crop to 5 cm stage depth one day after disappearance of ponded water. Last irrigation is to be scheduled fifteen days ahead of harvest. Cotton Flowering In the dry weather expected during the coming days if symptoms of and boll nutrient deficiency are noticed in cotton in boll formation stage spray 2% formation magnesium sulphate+ 1% urea in order to meet the nutrient requirement satge during this critical growth stage. If symptoms of reddening are noticed in the crop spray 5% magnesium sulphate+ 1% urea+ 0.1% zinc sulphate. Sugarcane Tillering For the crop at tillering stage apply one third of the recommended quantity stage of nitrogen and potassium as per soil test recommendation. If soil test is not done apply 92 kg nitrogen (202 kg urea) and 37.5 kg potassium (60 kg MOP) per hectare and do earthing up.
