Dear ___________________, My teacher read the book Flat Stanley to my class. The book was about a young boy named Stanley who became flat after a bulletin board fell on him. You are probably thinking HOW AWFUL, but it was not all that bad. Being flat had some advantages. Stanley wanted to visit his friend. The airline ticket was too expensive, so his parents put him in an envelope with a postage stamp on the outside and sent him in the mail. He was able to vacation with his friend for just the price of a stamp. You have to agree, there is a wonderful advantage to being flat! I made Flat ___________________ (your name) at home and enclosed it in this envelope. Thought it would be fun if could show Flat __________________ a good time for a few days. Please take my flat body with you to some of the places you go to in your town. After you do this for a few days, please write me a letter about the fun you had with Flat _________________. Please take some pictures of your visit and send them back with the letter. When I get everything back from you, I’m going to tell my classmates all about this fun vacation. My teacher will have a map on the wall so I can show everyone where Flat _______________ went on vacation. I am also going to read your letter and show the pictures. I would appreciate it if you could send everything back by March 21, 2011. It should be a lot of fun hearing about everyone’s vacation. Thank you for all your help!
