LCCC CCP: SPECIFIC STEPS FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE OR WILL BE (by Fall 2015)TAKING COLLEGE LEVEL CLASSES AT EITHER THE LORAIN HIGH ANNEX SITE OR LORAIN HIGH SCHOOL SITE STEPS Step 1 Step 2 Which form? CCP Letter of Intent to Participate Fill out the College Credit Plus LCCC application, including parent signature. What is the deadline? April 1st No later than June 15th Who does it go to? Parents will return all CCP Letters of Intents to Participate forms to there home schools. Middle School: Middle and High School applications will go to the appropriate High School or Middle school counselor because the counselor must fill out Section 2. Elementary: Elementary applications will go to the home schools and then the home school will send them to central office to complete section 2. Then what happens? Home Schools will make 3 copies of the form and send it to the following locations via hard copy, fax, or scanned. Copies 1 copy remain at home school, place in accumulative folder 1 copy to receiving school (except 6th grade will send to central office) 1 copy home school will send CCP Letter of intent to LCCC Receiving School Information 6th graders – Central Office to Pat Akosi 233-2274. 7th graders – Middle school counselors: GJW – Mrs. Barnes / LMS – Mrs. Olle 8TH and 9th graders - Lorain Annex High School Counselor: Mrs. Cocco 10th & 11th graders-Lorain High, High School Counselors: - Mrs. Benson Elementary: Central office and the school will review and house the information to confirm enrollment eligibility. Middle and High School: The middle and high school counselors will house the information to confirm enrollment eligibility. Defer to Step 3 Counselor Information: 6th graders – Home school 7th graders – Middle school counselors: GJW – Mrs. Barnes / LMS – Mrs. Olle 8TH and 9th graders- Lorain Annex High School Counselor: Mrs. Cocco 10th & 11th graders-Lorain High, High School Counselors: Mrs. Benson Step 3 Middle and High School: No later than June 15th Counselor will sign application and attach a copy of the student’s high school transcript or middle school report card (with ACT or SAT scores only IF the student has either) to the LCCC CCP application with Section 2 filled out and will send it to LCCC’s Special Admissions Office. Elementary: Central Office will sign applications and attach a copy of the students elementary report card to the LCCC CP Application with Section 2 filled out. Then Central Office will send the application to LCCC’s Special Admissions Office. Emma Hale in the LCCC’s Special Admissions Office A letter will be mailed to the address on the application. KEEP THIS LETTER. That letter will give you a student ID number. You must have your LCCC ID number to take the Compass test. You will not be admitted to CCP until you have tested at college level in at least one area. Step 5 Which tests? If the student HAS NOT taken the ACT or SAT or does not have qualifying ACT or SAT scores, then the student will need the Compass Test. Don’t forget! You must have a Student ID number to Compass test. Try to test before the High School and Middle School Counselors leave for summer break. Where do you go? Testing for -students in 9th grade who are currently Lorain High students can test at the Lorain High Annex during scheduled dates and times. -students in 10th and 11th grade who are currently Lorain High students can test at the High School during scheduled dates Or they can take the compass at LCCC or any LCCC Learning Center during LCCC site business hours. Hours vary. -students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades can take the Compass test at either the Lorain or Elyria campus, unless other arrangements are made by Mrs. Cocco at the Annex. Then what happens? Student will receive a letter in the mail that states either -you have passed at college level and qualify for the CCP program OR -you did not pass at college level and have been denied participation in CCP for the upcoming year. FOR STUDENTS WHO TEST AT COLLEGE LEVEL AND ARE ACCEPTED INTO THE CCP PROGRAM Step 6 How to register for college classes Who is student’s LCCC contact at this point? If student is taking classes at any of the college campuses: The student must meet with her or his assigned academic advisor at the college campus to register for classes. Students taking classes at Lorain High: Gina Maldonado gmaldonado@lorainccc.edu If student is taking classes on-site at Lorain High: The high school counselor will schedule those who passed at college level into the college-level coursework at the high school (this should have already been discussed during the time students set up their following year’s high school courses) LCCC will register on-site students over the summer.
