Waste paper by GOST 10700-97
( GOST 10700-97 ) This standard applies to sorted paper and cardboard waste, utilized as a secondary
material for processing it into paper, cardboard and other products.

Composition
МS-1А
White paper production waste (except news-print); printing paper, writing paper,
drafting paper, drawing paper, photosensitive paper base and other types of white
paper.
МS-2А
All types of white paper production waste in the form of off-cuts with ruling and blackand-white or colored stripe: printing paper, writing paper, graph paper, drawing paper.
МS-3А
Wastes from production of paper from sulfate unbleached pulp, packing, cord,
electrical insulation, cartridge, bag paper, abrasive base, sealing tape base, and also
punch-card, paper twine, electrical insulating board production wastes.
МS-4А
Used non moisture-proof paper bags (without bitumen treatment, insertion and
stiffened lamina).
МS-5B
Production and consumption wastes of corrugated board, cardboard and paper utilized
in its production.
МS-6B
Wastes from production and consumption of all types of cardboard (except electrical
insulating, roofing and shoe-board) with black-and-white and colored print.
МS-7B
Used books, magazines, brochures, leaflets, catalogues, notebooks, copybooks,
pocketbooks, placards and other types of printing industry products and paper
stationery goods, goods with monochrome and colored print, without bindings, covers
and binding edges, issued on white paper.
МS-8V
Wastes from production and consumption of news-papers and news-print.
МS-9V
Paper cartridges, spools (without rods and stoppers), cores (without coating and
treatment).

Wastes from production and consumption of paper and cardboard with treatment and
МS-11V coating, moisture-proof, bitumen, laminated, and also paper bags produced from the
paper of the said types.
Wastes from production and consumption of paper and cardboard of black and brown
МS-12V colors, paper with a copying layer, for computer machinery, paper-base with applied
disperse dye of various tints, and also roofing board.
Wastes from production and consumption of various types of cardboard, white and
МS-13V colored paper (except black and brown colors), book-cover, photosensitive, including
sealed in copying machinery devices, poster paper, wallpaper, box-cover, spool, etc.
1. Determination of a batch volume:

W1 - assumed moisture, 12%.
Results are rounded to the accuracy of a whole number.
2. Transportation and storage
2.1. Transportation and storage - by GOST 1641 with subsequent supplements.
2.2. It is allowed to transport paper waste in open carrier vehicles, at that, it should be protected from
atmospheric precipitation with tarpaulin, polyethylene film, etc.
2.3. Transportation by railway is accomplished in carload shipments. Shipment of two separated batches
is permitted by an agreement with the customer.
2.4. At transportation of waste paper in packages, requirements of GOST 21929 should be met.
Waste paper of МS-7B, grade, designated for production of cardboard and paper, is divided into three
sorts:
Sort 1 (7B1) - wastes of typography production and printing mills with ash content up to 10 %;
Sort 2 (7Б2) - wastes of typography production and printing mills (except fully sealed placards and
magazines) with ash content over 10 %;
Sort 3 (7B) - Used books, magazines, brochures, leaflets, catalogues, notebooks, copybooks,
pocketbooks, placards and other types of printing industry products and paper stationery goods with
monochrome and colored print, without binding, covers and binding edges, issued on white paper,
paper from archives and institutions.
Waste paper of МS-5B grade, designed for production of corrugated cardboard, is divided into three
sorts:
Sort 1 (5B1) - for corrugated cardboard production of Т-23 grade by GOST 7376-89 resistance pressure
of, Kpa, burst strength, 1,100 by GOST 13525.8-68.
Sort 2 (5B2) - for corrugated cardboard production of Т-22 grade by GOST 7376-89 resistance pressure
of, Kpa, burst strength, 1,000 by GOST 13525.8-68.
Sort 3 (5B) - for corrugated cardboard production of Т-21 grade by GOST 7376-89 resistance pressure
of, Kpa, burst strength, 800 by GOST 13525.8-68.
Till 1997, in RF and the CIS there existed another grading, which a number of enterprises are still using
now.
