Below is a list of scholarships available to prospective and current students in the Natural Sciences
Division: (please check all scholarships that you feel you are eligible and would like to apply for)
☐Robert and Donna Bruner Family Endowed Scholarship (average award is $2000, based on funding availability)
1. The candidate must be in need of financial assistance as demonstrated by the financial information obtained by
the Director of Financial Aid.
2. Preference shall be given to graduates of Marion High School who are majoring in Nursing or other medical
related fields of study, Education or Music.
3. If the student being considered is an incoming freshman, the student must have maintained a minimum GPA of
3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent, in high school. Any student being considered at the college level must
maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent.
☐Van Ausdall and Farrar Endowed Scholarship Fund (average award is $1000, based on funding availability)
1. The candidate must be in need of financial assistance as demonstrated by the financial information obtained by
the Director of Financial Aid.
2. The scholarship is to be awarded to a Marion High School graduate. If a student is unable to be identified then a
student from Grant County will be chosen. Additional schools can be added by donor annually.
3. Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
4. Student majoring in Business or Health Sciences.
☐Promising Pre-Med Student Annual Scholarship Fund (average award is $1000-$2500, based on funding availability)
1. The candidate must be in need of financial assistance as demonstrated by the financial information obtained by
the Director of Financial Aid.
2. The candidate must meet the Presidents Scholarship Award criteria.
3. The recipient must be an incoming freshman Biology /Pre-Med major.
☐Dr. Marvin Hinds Pre-Med Scholarship (average award is $1,000 - $3,500 based on funding availability).
1. Recipients shall be recommended by the Biology Department.
2. This scholarship is intended to assist students majoring in pre-med who exhibit a quality of excellence as seen
in their academic endeavors and their compassion for others. They also shall be involved in their Church and
community.
3. Preference shall be given to incoming students and freshmen.
☐Kenneth and Katherine Rosencrance Endowed Scholarship Fund (average award is $ 1,500 based on funding availability)
1. The candidate must be in need of financial assistance as demonstrated by the financial information obtained by
the Director of Financial Aid.
2. Must be pre-med student pursuing a course of study leading to admission in medical school or osteopathy.
3. The recipient shall be of good moral character.

☐Cheryl Beckett Alumni World Changer Endowed SF (Average award is $1500 based on funding availability).
1. Preference shall be given to an undergraduate student (s) with a major in the sciences and an interest in
international services.
2. Recipient should exemplify Christian character and demonstrate excellence in his/her personal, spiritual and
academic endeavors.
3. Recipient must possess a GPA of 3.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
4. Recipient must complete the Cheryl Beckett Alumni World Changer essay questionnaire. (Please contact financial
aid at finaid@indwes.edu if you feel you qualify for this award to receive the required questionnaire.)
5. In the unlikely event that a student is not identified, who meets the above described criteria is not identified,
IWU reserves the right to make the award, seeking to conform as close as possible to the original intent of the
donor.
☐The Lloyd & Virginia Rittenhouse Music, Math & Science Scholarship (Average award is $1500 based on funding availability).
1. The recipient must be majoring in music, math or science.
2. The candidate must be in need of financial assistance as demonstrated by the financial information obtained by
the Director of Financial Aid.
3. The recipient must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
4. The faculty of the Divisions of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Information Sciences, and Music
will recommend the scholarship recipient from their respective area.
☐Lee Showen Memorial Scholarship Quasi Endowment (Average award is $500 based on funding availability).
1. The candidate must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
2. Available to pre-med students.
3. Priority shall be given to a student in the respective majors that is planning to engage in some aspect of
missionary service.
☐Austin and Vella Jane Gaddis Annual Scholarship (Average award is $1000 based on funding availability).
1. The candidate must be in need of financial assistance as demonstrated by the financial information obtained by
the Director of Financial Aid.
2. Pre-med students are eligible to apply for this award.
☐The Elvin Huyard Scholarship Fund (Average award is $2500 based on funding availability).
1. At the discretion of the Director of Financial Aid recipients shall be from a middle class family and demonstrate
financial need according to Indiana Wesleyan University standards.
2. Recipients shall exemplify Christian character and demonstrate excellence in their personal, spiritual and
academic endeavors.
3. The recipient must have maintained a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
4. Preference shall be given to medical technology students and then biology majors including pre-med students.
Incoming freshmen are not eligible for the following awards.
☐Charles DeVol Biology Award (Average award is $500 based on funding availability).

☐Quiring Dulin Health Sciences Endowed Scholarship (Average award is $1000 based on funding availability).
1. Must be a full time junior enrolled in School of Nursing or the Division of Health Sciences with intent of pursuing
a career in the health sciences.
2. Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.
3. Must exemplify Christian character
4. Financial need as determined by the financial aid officer will be the determining factor if other eligibility is equal
between nominees.

☐The Sonshine Arabian Farm Veterinary Medicine Award (Average award is $1000 based on funding availability).
1. The selection of the scholarship recipient will be made by the full time faculty of the Division of Natural Sciences
in the spring semester and the name submitted to the Director of Financial Aid and the College Officials.
2. The award is restricted to a student who has received an acceptance to a fully accredited school of veterinary
medicine.
3. Preference should be given to a student who intends to pursue the field of Equine Medicine.
4. Preference shall be given to a student whose parent (s) is/are not employed by Indiana Wesleyan University.
5. The student must be a United States Citizen.

Additional Requirements
Please submit this application and a letter of recommendation from a high school science teacher addressing your
academic potential and your performance within their class (if incoming freshman) or a signature of support below from a
Division of Natural Sciences professor (if returning student) to the Financial Aid Office at Indiana Wesleyan University by
March 1, 2016. Endowed award recipients and scholarship amounts will not be determined until after April 2016.
