2. Read: Essentials of Oceanography, Preface, To the Student, pg. xvii. Read: Introduction, pg. xxixxv.
3. Create a collage, schematic map or write a one page paper summarizing the information you
have just read. Include: timeline of Oceanography, Geological oceanography, chemical
oceanography, physical oceanography, biological oceanography, Population concentration in
relation to oceans, and human impacts on oceans.
 Resources (paper, magazines etc) are on the center prep counter
